Heat Risers - What they do, Why they're needed, and Why I'm deleting mine

In this video, I will address the original purpose and need for heat risers in your exhaust, and explain why I'm choosing to delete mine and replace it with a spacer instead. This might be common information to some, but others may find it useful. Let me know if there are any questions or comments!

Most FE engines will utilize the same or similar spacer, the biggest thing to look for is a similar thickness to ensure exhaust alignment, especially in a single, H-Pipe, or X-Pipe Exhaust.

Great info! I've done the same on a 80s truck which i think used a vacuum actuated design for the diversion valve.

Love the car, my bud has a 65 XL convertible and short on money to fix it up. If he would sell it I might turn into a part-time Ford man. This is good info; not much details I can find about my riser on 1970 350.

That thing is exactly like a electronic choke
