Chuck something was the DTs name in real life. RD prep for this role was outstanding n secretive he was robbed of an Oscar. idiots who know nothin said he was just doin regular DeNiro which is b.s. bcuz he NEVER did a role like this prior to this flick. not Goodfellas or nothin.

Some of the best scenes ever put to film, "New Dawn Fades" playing in the back as Hannah is barreling down the freeway after Neil, that tension they both feel in their shoulders as they both ready their respective arms in preparation for shit going south, Neil's fear of the unknown outside his car & his anxious yet calm readiness as he looks around for the "Heat" coming around the corner. Hannah's fear of the unknown inside of Neil's Cara's he walks up confident yet nervous & unsure of his opponents response knowing he's a brilliant calculating tactician who won't be taken without both men getting put down by the other. Brilliant scene & what follows is arguably the greatest scene is film history as the two mega forces of film finally collided in that cramped, intimate diner. Beyond epic.

It's a true shame that any younguns today who happen to watch this won't be seeing it in a theater! It's Michael Mann's best work, with the darkness all around you and then your vision taking that helicopter ride like it was an attraction at a theme park in an almost mystical immersive experience! I was lucky enough to see it in an older theater, too, at a triplex that had $1 movies because everyone was flocking to the newer ones with a bazillion screens even though that meant smaller screens. So, I saw it on one of the largest screens in all of Alabama--coincidentally the same one where I'd seen Darth Vader come on screen in a swirl of smoke at age 5, another mystical experience! As much as I love the movie from the comfort of home, there's nothing like the Michael Mann touch visually in a big theater!

The chopper reports Neil going east but he’s actually going west towards LAX. He gets pulled over by the 105 and 405. I pass by here almost all the time and by the beginning of the film where he gets off from the metro. It’s so close to home ❤

Going 100 on the highway and not stoppin for nothin. No fear just the pedal to the medal & the wind roaring through the cracked window. Deniro & Pacino in one of my favorites. Michael Mann also did Miami Vice.
