Can this be fully remote controlled via WiFi? What happens if it loses power, will it remember settings and power up automatically?
@heatbit7 ай бұрын
Yes, on the same WiFi network. It will remember the settings. The power-up scenarios are currently being worked on, so they will be finalized by the time the devices are delivered or in our subsequent software updates.

Will there be an physical Ethernet connection available? We typically try to keep the WiFi in the house off most of the time, and I assume that the miner would have to be connected to the internet 24/7 in order to mine properly. Thanks.

Can you please add a feature to disable the extra heating coil? Or is i possible to disconnect it? (Don’t like the idea to generate heat without mining)
@heatbit9 ай бұрын
It's already there :) If you heat in Eco mode, only silicon chips are involved
@sanhef94619 ай бұрын
@@heatbit Thanks for clarifying. So the other modes will earn same amount bitcoin as ECO-mode?
@heatbit9 ай бұрын
@@sanhef9461 you can use mining + purification, mining + purification + heating (heat coil), or purification exclusively. Silicon chips consume 400W at 10 TH/s. A heating coil gives you optional 1000W but no Bitcoin rewards.

I live in Nevada which is a super hot part of the US and I’m curious if a cooling unit or an all in one unit that heats or cools is being developed. I’d love a cooling unit that filters the air for my recording booth. It gets quite stuffy in there!
@heatbit8 ай бұрын
We have an R&D confirming its technical feasibility and hope to produce an AC at some point in the future. Right now the focus is delivering Minis. In eco mode with full rewards it earns full mining rewards at 400W which is quite comfortable.

I very much appreciate the teardown! Looks like a big improvement over the previous version. I've been wanting something like this for a few years now. Some questions: Are there OTA updates? Will the rewards half at the BTC halving this year? Can you turn off the LEDs completely for those like me who need it completely dark to sleep? Is the BTC you earn KYC? Why is the black version 25% more expensive? I'd be tempted to paint it myself at that price. Are you hiring? =P Suggestions: Consider replacing the Orange Pi with a custom PCBA. Perhaps look into NixOS instead of Debian builds, which has some advantages for embedded systems. For future products, it would be great to have a heater, cooler, purifier, fan (with continuous speed settings), miner all in one.

Glad to hear that torturing Mini was informative to you. 1. Yes, hardware-related tasks are completed; software updates will follow. 2. Yes. This applies to any device mining BTC. Mini is less affected since its primary purpose is heating. ASIC miners turn into electrical waste when electricity costs surpass mining income. 3. In some modes, yes, but there's no dedicated control for this. Reducing light pollution is important, so thanks for highlighting this. 4. If I understand correctly and you're inquiring about "clean" Bitcoin, then the answer is yes. It's a mining reward from the NiceHash pool. You can inquire with them whether they segregate mining rewards or blend them with Bitcoin acquired in other ways. 5. Production headache because anodizing doesn't consistently yield colors other than silver unless you have Apple-scale operations and contractors. 6. You can explore open positions here or send a general application by saying 'Hi': heatbit.com/pages/jobs Heatbit Mini features a custom mining plate with 5 nm chips. Securing it was a significant challenge, but entirely worth it. You might find this thread interesting: twitter.com/heatbit_com/status/1681635155092426752 Thank you for your suggestions. We have plans for air conditioners and further development of the concept. After shipping Minis to customers.

Will it be suitable in a small cold workshop where there is wood and metal dust ?
@heatbit9 ай бұрын
It has no measures for harsh conditions, so won't be the best option. While Mini uses HEPA filters for air purification and protecting itself from dust, the amount of air going through it is not enough to filter the pollution like HEPA filters used in enterprise ventilation systems. Exposing it to construction dust may harm the device. If it's in a part of your room where there's not a lot of dust, this should work if you replace filters more often. For more detailed reply, we need more information on how you plan to use it. Some photos of your workshop would be perfect. Please, contact our support team to figure out if it works for you: support@heatbit.com

How is this mini an improvement over your previous Heatbit that some influencers seemed to have problems with?
@heatbit9 ай бұрын
Mini is a conceptually different usage-focused device. It's based on a custom plate with 5 nm chips, instead of Antminer S9 plates. You get 10 TH/s from 400W. Additional 1000W from a heating coil is an option. By running it in eco mode, you get full mining rewards and purify your air without excessive heat and noise. It's more efficient than having 13.5 TH/s from 1400W when you lose efficiency by decreasing the wattage. As it was our first device, we've also learned what could be better and considered it to design the second device with all additional resources and opportunities.
@walshously7 ай бұрын
Great idea in theory but if I bought one I would probably be making about £8 a month in BTC and spend £8 a month on filters so I would be paying a premium to heat my home on electricity instead of gas at a cheaper rate. Not to mention the $800 investment 🤔
@heatbit7 ай бұрын
Mini is not financially viable for every household, which is why we have a calculator on our website. In some locations, you may benefit from very low electricity costs, central heating, or, conversely, have enormous gas rates.
