Heated debate on book banning resumes at Dearborn schools during 2nd board meeting

This is the second time this week the topic was discussed. On Monday, the board meeting was derailed by a large and disorderly crowd. After going into a recess, the meeting continued Thursday evening.

Well I do have to agree with that. I typically don’t have an issue with what someone believes in. As long as they respect me for who I am then I’ll give them the same courtesy. Now I do have a problem when someone pushes beliefs or ideology of any kind. That’s kind of why I’m concerned about Dearborn. If all they do is make the books an option then I’ve got no issue with it as long as they give the parents a say in what their children read at that age. It’s why I supported religion and beliefs being taken from schools. It’s the parents job to teach kids these kinds of matters.

I have not, so I feel like I would be unqualified to talk about the content in a meeting. If I were on the board, I would hold off on the vote, maybe make a committee of volunteers out of the parents to read the books, and then here their responses after discussion.

Funny how when a concerned parent peacefully voicing their opinions, and read porn out loud from some 100 books insidiously placed in the kids library and they go once a week to seek new books to read, the parent reading porn out loud gets arrested or banned. But the children as young as age 5 will have those visuals and words for the rest of their lives. Parents, as I was a Crime and Political reporter on the Border of Texas-Mexico, and a part-time Substitute teacher for Public schools, plus raised 5 boys. They got away with occult themed books and slipped them in among good solid literary classics. These filthy trashy books read my innocent kids. If you can't beat them join them. It's just disappeared. Oh well. What do I owe you. Silently get them out. They have to order new ones or get out the old classics. Mimic these narcissistic subhuman beings. When the kid is able to let u know what they wana do, the kid should make their own choices over their education and work. Parents should offer advice, guidance, direction, and help. The age varies based on the kids ability. Most kids by age 4 or 5 should be able to make those choices, some can younger. The kids should be guided, directed, advised, and encouraged by the parents/babysitter, to learn things that will likely be useful to the kid, and teach them why they think the kid should learn certain things, and help the kid discover what the kid is interested in, what jobs the kid wants to learn how to do, and what the kids goals r and how they can accomplish it, without force/coresion. if their goal is to have their own house and car, they can be encouraged and provided opportunity to learn how to do a job of their choice so they can afford it, and helped to find a job they think is fun. The kid should not be forced into arrested development, prolonged infancy, and dependency. The kid should be taught and encouraged to do things for themselves. Make learning and them doing things for themselves a fun game with praise, happiness, games, songs, dancing, socializing, playing, exciting, entertaining, and have their friends watch or join, while they r learning how to do it and when they do it for themselves, and give them good reasons with a positive additude why they should learn how and do things for themselves and why it would benefit the kid, to help convince them, without force and coresion. When they do it for themselves u can tell them they should be impressed with and proud of themselves, try to make them feel good about themselves for doing it, and that u r impressed with and proud of them, and praise. The kid should want and try to become more independent on their own. Most kids want to be more independent, but the adults don't let them, then the kids quit liking those adults and dont want to do what those adults want them to do. Do not do things for the kid when they know how and r able to do it for themselves. If they don't know how, teach them how(like if its an activity where they might get hurt if they r clueless), or let them figure out how to do certain things for themselves (LIke things where they wont likely get hurt), then they can use their problem solving skills. The kid should be provided with opportunity to learn how to do a variety of jobs. The kid should learn a little about a variety of jobs, so they can choose which ones they wana learn more about. If u can convince the kid with a good enuf reason so the kid sees how it will benefit the kid and the kid has opportunity and knows where to use the info to accomplish the kids goals, the kid will likely want to learn it.

I think children need to be exposed to as many options as possible but truly most children don't find their niche in a particular field until much older..and if you don't allow them the opportunity to change their mind twenty times along the way by boxing them into a career path before they have a chance to experience much of life, then that is unfortunate. Learning comes from, as you suggest, a multitude of experiences..social, academic, cultural, etc..and I again agree..letting children do for themselves to experience all under reasonable supervision, is absolutely imperative. Sadly, many parents don't spend their resources to do so because they simply don't have it, or they aren't all that interested. So..schools become the safety net of sorts for those children. I'm sure you have been exposed to, through your own life experiences/ travels..the many places in the world where children are expected to start working asap, and availability of any formal education is extremely limited to only the more wealthy classes, and know how utterly sad that can be to see there are no options, no chance for choice or improvement of life circumstance for those who dont have that opportunity given to them. There must be a balance and ideally the parents, when they are themselves capable, must ensure that happens for their own children.

A huge amount of people in college have no idea why they r there or what they wana learn or what job or career they want. The colleges tell them to go into debt and go to college for 2-4+ years and that they dont have to know what they wana do for a job that they can figure that out later while they r in college, and if they still dont know after 4yrs of college to just stay in college longer and figure it out later, and just take the classes the college recommendeds to them. I want them to be able to change their mind as many times as they want. I dont want them to be boxed into a career path if its not what the kid wants. Public schools r not safety nets, they r trap nets, like fishing nets trapping the kids in there agianst their will, wasteing their time, teaching useless info they forget after test, making them dumb, preventing them from getting useful education else where. Poor kids with poor parents could be given $ for education. Id like for kids to have opportunity to learn how to become skilled labor and learn how to do a high paying job, not be forced to work a low paying job from a young age just to Survive. Kids should not be forced to work. End taxes on everyone with less than $200,000 worth of property so they can better be able to afford education and living costs. Convince gov to Let everyone that wants use an acre of free tax free land to grow their own food and live on, to help the poor be able to feed themselves and not work hard labor all day at young age that pays like a dollar a day just so they can buy a little food and not starve to death. Ban farm subsidies.

I don’t care if kids’ books show little boys having a crush on other little boys or little girls having a crush on other little girls, and I don’t care if they tell kids that transgender people exist. But when the books are supposed to be for children and they’re literally describing how to hook up with guys on Grindr, or showing drawings of a nude adult man, or they’re telling you that if you like anything feminine you’re probably transgender, there’s a world of difference there. I think any rational moderate American who loves the ideal of American liberty can see that there’s a middle ground to both show love toward the rainbow community AND keep sexually inappropriate matter away from kids.
