There's no dilemma. Dilemma is for people who put their responsibilities on others (here, the govt). Govt is a facilitator not a manufacturer. Basically, the nation works on the principles of its people through the tools (administration) of the govt. The thought that i don't live in Chennai so I will not contribute does not stop there unfortunately. It goes beyond and across to.... .'I don't know you, why should I carry you to the hospital', 'I don't agree with the laws so why should I abide by them', 'I don't like you so why should I just not kill you'. I agreed sadguru in all aspects but no this .... Tax is paid by every Indian..Evry bill has GST... Forgot about petrol diesel tax ????. Even Indian is paying toll tdy... For evry product bought they pay taxes ..and it's not 3% .. Every Indian govt employees pay it's mandatory ... R they just 3% govt employees in this country ..?? What about business people startup who file tax to get loans , Celebrities , Isha or Art of living kind of organisations ???.. According to u evryone are corrupt hiding without paying taxes then !! Evrywr thy need 3yr IT returns and thy hold it ..... Their is no doubt the budget declared per FY is more than enough to accommodate for all works but it's being swollen by Corrupt and the people following ethics r still struggling hard to make life ....Doesnt it bother u if they misuse tax for their meeting , for traveling , for personal benefit, health care... Government officers ask bribe in front of you with no shame and if you go to complains bout them in nearby police station they scold you and send you away. Thousands including me have tried to stand against corruption but ended up losing so don't say people are enot doing anything. Government is way worse

This is soo true, observing India from afar i have been raised in a foreign country since i was 2. Every time i visit India, i can see the difference between western mentality and Indian mentality. Indians cannot think past the point of wealth, whereas westerners have diverse values contributing to a better wellbeing. If they can remove that mentality that someone should give them money and stop showing off, faking their situation, and complaining about everything. Wouldn’t they be at a better place? We have such a rich culture, but we are purposely living in such situations, take accountability for yourself and think about the humanity.

I knew a big brother of mine. He wanted to be an IAS officer. But his main interest were power and money mostly in the form of bribe. He often used to say that if he becomes IAS how much bribe he can collect along with the salary which is already high. But never said that he wants to improve the condition of the nation. This is really the tragedy of this country. People in india are so dishonest and corrupt and then they keep on blaming the government.

It is a false notion that 95 percent of the people don't pay taxes. It should borne in Monday that the entire population pay GST which is indirect tax. Every individual irrespective of their status pay GST. Even income tax the rich companies pay less tax than a common man which is regressive in its character. Every citizen pays tax on food, petrol, entertainment, clothes, medicines, education and what not. So the argument that 95 percent don't pay taxes is a misleading statement. Some one should appraise Sadguru of this in proper perspective.

Superb explanation by Sadhguru!! Just 1 correction I want to make. Sadhguru talked only about income tax, but that's not the only tax that the government collects from the citizens. Each and every commodity is taxed. When a poor man buys a Rs.10 biscuit packet, the price contains tax that goes to the government, so in that way, indirectly all the people pay taxes to the government.

That is often called a Consumption tax . In Australia, it's called GST goods and services tax. We have the payroll tax and then gst as well

One thing I agree is electing corrupt persons is the mistake of people. I am one in that 3.2 % who is paying heavy income taxes in india, anyways income tax isn’t the only tax. Everything one buy they are paying taxes. And no question is insulting or arrogant. Everyone can as questions as per their own beliefs.
