Great answer.. i do find it funny that they got 2 single women to discuss relationships.. If anything at least ONE of them should have been married.. single people can NEVER understand the horror show that being married can be sometimes.. loving and hating the person you are with in equal measure is such a confusing place to be.. and im not talking about ur 4 or even 7 year marriages.. they are the golden years.. Me and my lovely charmingly generous wife are going on 26 years married now.. we have seen the very best and the oh so very very worst of each other.. but our philosophy is one along ur own lines.. love your partner more than anything in this universe and there is nothing that will pull u apart!!

A horse needs both hay and water to exist. Hay and water are not the same, but are of equal importance. Men and women are not the same, but are of equal importance. For a marriage to exist one spouse must give way or it's not a marriage. The only question is: _Do we want marriage to be the foundation of society - or should we work toward a different kind of society?_ If we want a society built on marriage, then we should respect marriage, not rubbish it.

As a man I can tell you we don't like being told by women how we like our women to behave, some men like women to be dependent on them and some men like women to be more independent. It's not black and white.

Exactly. Some men like doing the cooking and the wife does other stuff around the house. Men and women find the appropriate partner to suit their needs and find their own rhythm to make things work. I know so many men that are so much better than women at the traditional old fashioned things that women were put in charge of in the olden days and vice versa. A spouse should always try to make their partner happy and be happy to do so!

I would actually love to know if you're a man or a woman? So yes, there certainly are men like that around but there are also men around that want a woman who has a awesome carrier. I don't think my man or any of my exes would have been with me if I (then) wasn't a hard learning university student and so where they, and now a carrier woman who stands with both feet on thr ground and also can support herself without his paycheck
@kittys179

Exactly! Everyone is different, so why should it matter if a man or a woman chooses to work a career or take care of the home or even both. From a woman's perspective here, I believe there is this emphasis that since women's rights have increased over the last 100 years, that as a woman you must work and be able to take care of the home. Be this big boss lady who can handle it all. I think there is this sense of guilt that is put onto women that to not use those rights gained from sacrifice, you are then wasting their sacrifice. That's how I see it anyway. I think it's contributed to the current ways of thinking, not being the only reason of course.

Because if both partners work the load should be shared. She mentioned ying and Yang incorrectly btw lol, but I guess she meant things should be shared but her statements didn’t reflect sharing . She seams to link cleaning and cooking and lowly tasks she is “above “. But if it’s good engine for your husband for ying and Yang sakes it should be good enough for you also?

Sorry but no ….I’ve been married for as long as I can remember and I can tell you that what keeps a man is not cooking dinners and cleaning and scrubbing floors….what keeps a man is respect, loyalty, compromise, calmness and just all in all a good home just as what keeps a wife. Cooking and cleaning are the bare minimum from BOTH partners as long as I they can afford the time to do it. It’s not less valuable of a man to get dinner ready and it’s not degrading for a woman to clean up after dinner, it’s just not, it’s the bare minimum not a gendered chore, if I have time I do it, if he does then he does it period anything less than that is a scam. Relationships are about coexisting with love, respect and everything else. If that lady with the turban wants to do all that “traditional” stuff she should do it and tell us all about it after she does it not before and the blonde lady should do her independent woman thing as well but don’t come out here lecturing anyone about “I would do x and y” cause you ain’t doin it love.

It's funny, a modern women wants a traditional man but she won't be traditional. All women think they're above average and will settle for nothing less than 6 ft tall plus, great job, rich, assets, home owner, ambitious, fitness model physique, but when a man says he doesn't want an obese woman and someone who's been through 100s of men it's body shaming and promiscuity shaming, madness! What are they offering? An earache, no thanks! I read a stat the other day that 50% of males are not pursuing any forms of relationships with women whether that be a legitimate relationship or just casual sex etc, I wonder why? Just to clarify I am not saying women shouldn't strive for more, but be realistic in what you are, what you're offering.

I tend to agree. The majority of women seem to be chasing the same archetype you mention, tall, dark and handsome, wealthy etc etc, and many men don’t measure up. These are the disenfranchised men that might feed into your stats. I bet a lot of those single men are actually struggling to find anyone. I don’t buy that they just aren’t bothering, nearly ALL straight men would like to find a woman, to deny that is to deny evolution, but they just don’t want to admit it because of male pride.

Since I've taken over the housewife duties, our relationship has become so much more connected. @@steph6109 i could understand the assumption because most women work full time nowadays and funnily enough, I'm in the process of going part time. My parents health is starting to go down and he knew he needed to higher paying job than mine, and he got one. I will have more time to help my parents when they need me. Me reducing my hours will certainly help me focus on on what really matters to me, my family. I would rather work myself to the bone for the ones I love than a business or body to work myself to the bone under someone who only cares about profit. To us, our priorities changed as we hit our thirties and we've realised life is too short to be unhappy. Sure he works a few more hours a week, however he loves me having dinner ready when he gets home, his smile and thanks everytime is worth more to me than a years pay. Hope this can help explain it. I'm not saying that all women shouldn't work and look after their man. Far from it but I do believe that naturally some women wish to take care of their home than to take care of someone else's business.

@@wioi I get what your saying but he isn't that kind of guy thankfully. He's too shy to go off flirting with another gal and he's thankfully not dumb enough to break up a relationship knowing that basically I own the majority of everything because I was the higher earner for a good 8 years of our relationship. He wanted more responsibility in his role, better pay to help cover me going part time and of course he wants a clean home with food at the ready. Basic wants which I can help him meet. When I have food ready for when he is home and he give me his big smile and thanks, that becomes worthwhile to me 🤣 if I put the effort in then so does he. We are 10 years into our relationship and getting married next year, I like to think we will be one of the lucky ones in our generation to love someone for their entire life

Totally agree with the blonde lady! I always tell men, i'm no domesticated goddess, and have no wish to be! I see it as if you both work full time you simply just share the housework and the cooking, or if I am not working full time and he is i will do all the housework, still share the cooking, sometimes take out etc etc Don't have kids, and won't be now, so very simple way to run things! However i do give 100% of myself to someone if i am really into them, and they will defiantly have no complaints in the bedroom area or need to go anywhere else, i am a very passionate person, and expect that in a man, not usually a problem lol The other lady to desperate, most men do not like that, in my experience!!

That needs to be kept alive and kicking, and not let go boring and get forgotten about! My standard is very high thanks very much, and i have never had any problem in attracting men, and keeping them!! But a relationship without passion is pointless, and will soon turn onto a failure! I am sure u have experienced a lot of relationships and given ur all in the bedroom but that alone isnt enough to keep a partner happy. Men will always have high standards and expectations from thier partner like contribution to household, showered with love & affection, loyalty, intimate surprises. I am sure u take care of ur partner and equally receive what u deserve unlike some women who think the world owe them for existing.

Except we are not born blank slates, we are born into a language, we are born into families/towns/cultures with expectations regarding what a successful and honest life looks like, and these expectations shape our life goals (even when we rebel). These background practices are far richer and influential than your "social norms are just a construct" cynicism allows. If your understanding of a culture is a collection of social choices made, it's a too shallow one.

Back in the days gender roles where forced on people. If you want a happy marriage you find the right partner who you can compliment in a give and take relationship, but no this does not mean as a man you have to be a bread winner and as a women a housewife , the issue is not we need to go back to sexist pushy gender roles the issue is we need to be decent , rational and compassionate human beings. Forcing human beings into roles just so they fit is not right, women and men should not be pressured into gender roles, you do not need to fit into a gender role to be a good human being or have a good relationship and family life. What matters is you and your partner both give your all and both balance each other out. Don't force women to be the people you want in a mate, remember women are human beings with their own unique dreams and personalities and they can still be lovely decent human beings without being trad housewives. You have to let human beings find themselves as long as they are decent human beings let them be, and for them to raise a happy family that can be done without them acting like they are from the 50s. Children need love, boundaries and security there is no reason they can't get that from a couple who don't obey the law of gender roles not if they offer their children what really matters,

Your comment is literally to shame men for choosing cooperative submissive women that will cater to their needs... It's interesting that you feel its acceptable to do that as an auto response to being triggered. I don't blame you society is programming women and men to think the way you do but the statistics show that it is not working in relationships and women in 2023 have the most "power" and rights they've ever whilst simultaneously being the most unhappy and single they've ever been.

Well that statement displays her ignorance and arrogance . So your mother is powerful and strong because she works outside the home. However if she had chosen not to work outside the home she would become weak and feeble? A load of crock 😂 The number one disease in modern western society is a lack of one very important ingredient for success in life . Schools and parents cannot teach it, you cannot find it next to the Walkers, on a supermarket shelf. You either have it , or you don’t . It’s called “Common Sense .”
