idk.. we were at the elite quest in the hinterlands when Flurry Axe world dropped, this was p1 and everyone agreed to greed (even though there was a warrior, and if he would equip i would have had no problem w letting him need) but we all agreed for a greed since it was pretty much bis in early p1. I won and sold it for 350g

We literally had this guy in our wrath guild, took multiple pieces of gear from togc from people that needed it more, and they weren't even good for him. He rolled on trophies of the crusade for tier, even though he won multiple other pieces and got upset when we said no to him about getting it. He started raising hell in our discord talking shit to someone who just lost their living situation. Don't be toxic over virtual items ❤️

The intensity of emotion wasn't about the virtual item. The piece of gear was simply the catalyst that brought much deeper issues to the fore. Those issues originated from something far more meaningful. When looking only at the surface you blind yourself to the body of water beneath. If I'm mistaken and he genuinely is the socialist bleeding heart he claims to be then he would understand that people are people and all bets are off when a random purple hits the loot box. Instead of trusting Olympus to deal with the issue internally, he takes a hard stance on negotiations and calls the ninja scum, claiming that he is irredeemable to humanity and the entire alliance on their server all while admitting to extorting his allied guild for financial gain. Emotional scarring is real. Fantasy addiction, isolation and depression are absolutely real. People do kill themselves and others and fatally neglect actual pets infants to further their virtual lives all too often. But this isn't a server first legendary. It's a shitty purple BoE that's only BiS for a very brief window in classic. To claim to care about each of your guild members' respective mental health equally, then demand that another guild's member and their family be harassed on all corners of the internet, to call them scum, to ignore and dehumanize them in what could be swift and friendly negotiations, is at best a clever ploy for promoting one's guild and online presence, and at worst maliciously hypocritical and actually damaging. I'll let the people who actually run in these circles decide in this case which this curious little Kiwi is.

It's a great game if you're into fantasy MMORPGs and was the industry standard for a long time. I started playing at release and was helplessly addicted for the next 5 or 6 years. There's a reason every MMO that came out during the glory days tried to be the "WoW killer." Unfortunately, Blizzard was bought by Activision, made the game much less fun and much more profitable, and has largely killed the franchise themselves, as they have with Diablo and likely will with Star Craft and the like. I still recommend classic or private servers to people who are interested in the game, but if it's just the nerdiness that appeals to you, there are probably better options that people actually still play.
