The part I used to make the handle is a 1/2 inch romex connector. You can see it has pipe threads on the bottom. You can attach a longer handle there if you want...

Thanks so much for this. Didn’t have heat for a whole year owning my XJ. Tried this today and have heat for the first time. Thank god didn’t have to do the heater core.

@@ExecuteInStyle Glad it worked out. I had the heater core and air conditioner replaced previously, and it was a huge job.

@@johnd.9145 was getting ready to tackle the job before the cold weather hits here on the east coast, glad I checked a few things before. The heater hoses were both hot and I flushed the heater last year. It’s always nice to have a simple fix on an Xj lol.

I think I'm having the same issue, I get cold air on my ac but a little less cold when all the way on heat. I'm hoping it's that because it looks easy to change
@mickywinters84513 жыл бұрын
My 2002 surely doesn’t have a blend door underneath the glove box door by the transmission carpet. Mines right behind the glove box door and the glove box has to be removed or dropped a bit to get it. Why would they put them in different places. 97-04 are supposed to be basically the same Jeep. Mines a grand Cherokee maybe the regular Cherokee is different

Were you having no air flow coming out the vents? Or was it just a temperature problem
@johnd.91452 жыл бұрын
Just the temperature problem.
@RootSuitMan4 жыл бұрын
Man, I'm having an issue with only getting air out of my defrost vents, AND only airflow while driving. My blower definitely seems to be working but doesn't blow any air out while sitting still.
@johnd.91454 жыл бұрын
I don't think I know an answer for that one. Although, at one point when my blower motor was going bad, I could turn it on high and tap on it from under the hood, and it would run.
@randomcitizen23843 жыл бұрын
My 99xj would blow good cold air out the front vents unless the rpms were high and then it would switch to the AC blowing out the defroster vents. I could turn the fan down and it would switch back to front vents, or lower my rpms and it will switch down. Strange I don’t know if these work off vacuum lines or not, but to sure seems like it.
@RootSuitMan3 жыл бұрын
@@randomcitizen2384 Mine actually turned out to be the blower motor fan plugged in backwards, making it blow the other way (out into the engine bay).
@randomcitizen23843 жыл бұрын
@@RootSuitMan I think I found the problem. I traced a small vacuum line that is between the cruise control and the intake manifold. A really small tube goes through the firewall on the passenger side. I pulled on it ever so slightly and it just came right out. I am guessing it just came unplugged. Now the adventure of finding how to plug it back in begins.
@RootSuitMan3 жыл бұрын
@@randomcitizen2384 You may end up having to remove your glove box and look at the vacuum lines in that area then

Does this click when it starts to fail?
@johnd.9145 Жыл бұрын
It probably could. I'm pretty sure the gears in it are plastic. Mine wouldn't move the blend door, but when I unbolted it and moved the temperature control dial, it would still rotate.
@BroPeabodyАй бұрын
@@johnd.9145, maybe the motor just didn't have enough power anymore. Did you ever try another motor?
@johnd.914529 күн бұрын
@@BroPeabody No, because my blend door was actually sticking in the farthest counter clockwise position. I can feel it when I move it by hand. Internally, the blend door is going past where it should, and hanging up.
