Just had my mechanic do my daughters 08 Grand Prix Coolant flush. Particularly the heater core. She hasn’t had heat for two winters. He gave it a good aquadoosh and now she says the thing is pumping! Dexcool turns to sludge after a couple years.

Did you let sit for one hour or more?

Could you please elaborate on that a bit more? Like what did more specifically?

Good tip. Ive done the flush but never did CLR in it.

High pressure (garden hose on full) reverse flush works best...and output heater core hose should always be a bit cooler than the input hose. If it isn't, the heater core tubes aren't absorbing the heat from the hot coolant needed for the fan to blow into the cabin.

The chemical seemed to help as well. Hopefully it helped get some of the scale and grime out of there.

I have a 4.0L 2001 Keep Cherokee Sport. I live in Southern California. it runs fine, but keep getting the cylinder 3 misfire code. I changed spark plugs, coil pack, fuel injector connectors. Next I'm going to replace the fuel injectors and put a foil insulation material by fuel injectors and fuel rail. I read the problem could be the engine gets hot and the exhaust manifold on '97-01 is closer to the injectors and fuel rail. Have you had any issues like that?

I had that problem too. It ended up being the cracked head at #3 and #4.

Nice. I'm going to have to try this on my wife's 2010 JKU, as it blows hot air on the passenger side, but not on the driver side. The YJ was a different issue in that it was leaking coolant into the cab, but that was easier to replace than the JKU heater core!

For sure. Fortunately this one doesn’t leak

Goog point reverse flush first; but what about allowing a longer descaling time?
@JeepSolid
@JeepSolid Жыл бұрын
I guess you could try letting it set longer. when I saw it done, he let it set for an hour. that seemed long enough to me.

And do you know if you can use Rtv on a valve cover. my 2.5 yj just started leaking and don’t wanna wait to get it on in the mail. It won’t kill me to wait but I’ll be nice to just use rtv and be done.
@JeepSolid
@JeepSolid Жыл бұрын
I’d wait for it to arrive. Rtv could work, but the gasket gap is large for rtv. Could make it work on the edge if had to…

Did some RTV come loose from your thermostat or water pump gasket and get clogged in the heater core??? This is a question you may want to ask yourself Dale.
@JeepSolid
@JeepSolid Жыл бұрын
Nope. Not related. Lack of heat was an issue before any work on the water pump
@tsmith578
@tsmith578 Жыл бұрын
@@JeepSolid Well it was something for you to consider.. my neighbor across the road from me changed the thermostat in their van last week, then had to flush out the core a couple days later and found a chunk of RTV and a small piece of gasket material in the drain bucket when they were finished.
@JeepSolid
@JeepSolid Жыл бұрын
Yes. Good to consider. This had slowly lost heat over time. Didn't find any chunks, but a bunch of sludge. It's been an issue for a while

@@JeepSolid I have never tried Lime Away before, But I have used vinegar for cleaning cores and radiators with pretty good results,. I seen my uncle use a bottle of liquid Draino to flush the radiator on his old GMC work truck when I was a kid and it did a great job, but it was a copper and brass radiator,. Not a aluminum and plastic one like vehicles often have these days.
