@@ChaoticButterfly Ah, I've heard of that. Isn't it an alternate ending that you can pretty much interpret even in the movie? The idea is that JD died when Veronica shot him, the bomb went off, and the rest of the movie is everyone in the afterlife. But I love that original ending aswell.

The way the animatic shows what could have been hits too close to home for me. JD reminds me too much of my ex and the prom part reminds me too much of how we always said we would go together. I see Veronica in myself when she decides to let him go instead of trying to save him.

I think it was maybe JD imagining what it would have been like if all of that stuff hadn't happened, like if he and Veronica weren't in that situation. It was sorta like his fantasy that didn't follow the logic of the reality they were in. But that's just how I saw it... :D

Losaida Mae I feel like (THIS IS JUST OPINION/INFERENCING) Veronica didn't feel the same way anymore and he recognized that and even though in this song she realizes that she cares despite hes problems, he's a lost cause. JD is such a complex and emotionally scarred character that is far beyond the point of return and I think at the point of this song he realizes this and comes to the tragic reality that there won't be a happy ending for him no matter what he does and he would rather give Veronica the opportunity of a happy and successful future without him. (It's sad sorry lmao)

It's cool when you see that this song starts off as Seventeen but it turns to Our Love is God. Which symbolizes that even though JD kinda agrees with Veronica's idea of being normal, at the end he's still got his deranged mindset. Also, some people say he wishes she would kiss him in hopes of her coming with him to die. It could be, cuz he's told her to stand back already, because he does love her, but deep inside his deranged mind thinks that because he loves her she should also come with him. Veronica understands that his deranged side is stronger-always has been, always will be. Which is why even after she tells him to hold on, at the end she says "Say hi to God" and let's him go.
