Wonderful to see a somewhat negliged Heathkit HW-101gets a "new life"! The tubesocket that You substituted may have been faulty from the begining and "solderfault" underneath it! A 50 year old rig and still c a n do the work! Amazing and Methodical ie a correct revision of HW-101!

This is fascinating. I can't wait to find one of these radios to restore.

I have an HW-101 I am looking to restore (first time) and this video greatly helped me understand a good process.

Nice job. A lot of Heathkits I've worked on had errors that were there from the initial build. Others were "repaired" incorrectly. They are the ideal radios to work on though, as long as you have the manual.

Another great Heathkit restoration video, Will. I have a question: at the beginning of this video I spied with my little eye a Kenwood TS-520. Would you ever consider doing any kind of repair or restoration video for a Kenwood hybrid transceiver? I love the energy that you have with these Heathkit radios, and I would really enjoy seeing your passion and energy committed to one of the Kenwood hybrids. While I like Heathkit (I am a big fan of their test equipment product line), I’m an even bigger fan of the Kenwood hybrid transceivers. Whatever radios, you decide to put on your bench, I will always be a loyal viewer. 73 Kenan, KR6J

Sorry for the silly question, but do you leave it at 170F for 20 minutes on Bake or Broil setting? Just curious.

Great job Will.Do you test all resistors in circuit.Do you get acurate readings without freeing one lead?Also where do you get the Heathkit bulletins?
@N5OLA10 ай бұрын
The service bulletins are circulating online. I posted a link on the video desc. I test the resistors in circuit and only worry about those that test ABOVE 15-18% (low is ok).

You should use *DeoxIT Fader F5* for POTs!! *NOT D5* You should ALSO, put some space between those 7W resistors!
