Thanks for clarifying. I was shocked when I saw my neighbor’s flowers under the snow. It was -8°C here and I was looking forward to the morning to look at these little flowers. it's something indescribable. small pink and not frozen. the snow has melted and they are very beautiful. I want these for myself

I'm so happy to see you're making videos again! I love it when you share new plant varieties with us. It keeps me abreast of all the new ways to spend "my allowance". I can't plant everything, but I keep trying! I'm happy to have a channel that I can keep up with new varieties. Instead of picking up the usual, I can search for something I really want to grow!

Wow, something for my zone (4a, Wisconsin), I find it hard to believe it will bloom in winter here, though, since the snow is always much deeper than the height of heaths and heathers. I watch a lot of gardening videos, and have never seen these featured before. I think they would be a gorgeous addition to my yard. Thanks, Debbie!

Thank you Ms.Debbi, it was a real treat to see you two days in a row. I married into a Scottish family and my sister in law named her first two children Heath and Heather. I’ve never planted either of those plants but I may have to find an area to plant some because they are beautiful. My problem is heavy clay soil so it may be a challenge to keep them growing. I’m going to have to put on my thinking cap to see what I can come up with because I would very much like to incorporate them into my landscape. Thank you again Ms.Debbi.🌺💚🙃

Thank you for this information. I planted a heath early this spring, it flowered nicely and then during summer time it went bronze on me looking like it's dead. Im hoping that its not but was also unaware of the low ph levels that it needs. Will work on lowering the ph and hopefully it will thrive.

Thank you Debbie. I’ve always wondered about Heathers. I didn’t even know about Heaths. I think they are always labeled as Heathers. I am in San Francisco Peninsula area. Our soil is 7 or so. Not acidic. But Dicentras (bleeding hearts) are doing fine despite preferring acidic soil so maybe I’ll try some more acid loving plants.

So happy to see this video. Heathers are one of my favorite plants and you don't see them featured much on videos. I'm in zone 5B in Maine and just planted 9 of them this spring. We are in a new home so all the garden beds are new. Before, we lived in NH in a zone 4 garden and I had several. They did great there so hopefully will here as well. Thanks for the video. One question, I never really pruned mine but I probably should have right?

No need to trim them unless they get leggy. Best time is in early spring once new growth appears.

Hello there ..I have a Erica Gracilis plant it’s losing its colour and greenery pine colour I have to admit I’ve haven’t been watering it but today I bought some miracle gro and added water sitting in a pot will it come back to life also would it be best to plant this in the ground rather then sitting in a pot ? It’s winter here over in England where I am.Thank You
@GardenStylenw3 жыл бұрын
As long as it's not brown it should be fine. Ericas will naturally turn color in cooler weather and green up in the Spring! Potting it is a great idea! :)

HI Debbie I watched your video's the other day . I'm wondering you mentioned planting this time of the year,so does that include plants that are in the ground ,I want to transplant my cone flowers. Can you cut the the dried up cone flowerseed heads cause the finches had there fill . I've cut several of the other coneflowers to about 12 inches .And they came back the next year. Thanks
@GardenStylenw3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can clean up the coneflowers and transplant if needed. :)

Might these be unsuitable for Mid-Atlantic z7b ? My experience with Erica Darleyenesis Heather has been problematic. Of 12 purchased three yrs ago, 3 have spread 2'. Another 5 are scraggly with woody centers. They were all planted 2" high. They seem to prefer less than 5 hrs sun or filtered.... and love water more than a hydrangea!
@GardenStylenw3 жыл бұрын
If getting less than 5 hrs. sun may be why they are looking scraggly. Light trim in Spring is all that is needed. :)
@P_Belle3 жыл бұрын
@@GardenStylenw - they turned brown in full sun (8-6pm). Those remaining did better under a tree with more filtered sun. The best performance has been under a ( new , 8ft) Natchez. The Erica heathers are still thirsty, but have less browning. Maybe this z7b climate is too hot and dry.

Thank you, Debbie. I now know that my gorgeous hedge is Heath. It looks like it is getting ready to bloom again. Question: When is the best time to trim? It's getting pretty big (over 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide) and I need to cut it back so it's not encroaching on my front walk. Any recommendations? Thanks!
