Good afternoon, I have just invested in a Remora Proffessional 14kw Inverter HP (from AES), and even though they are slightly different from your model, by watching your two videos about how you have set your ASHP up has answered a lot of questions in my head, understanding the by-pass system, the operation of control panels instructions (smart etc.) . really have enjoyed watching these videos, Thank you.

Hopefully with a bit of light, good weather and luck, I should get the rest of the install done this week. Most of it is done but I need to tidy it up first or the suppliers may be a little upset. lol

@@AKoiEnthusiast indeed, we all need a bit of good luck with the weather. The concrete pour on my new pond has been scheduled 3 times now and then cancelled by the concrete firm due to either low temps or rain. Keep consoling myself by the fact that I have a beautiful hole in my garden and have another 4 months to get it done before it starts eating into next years koi season. I saw that you bought your heater from AES, what made you choose the Remora over the Hydro-pro or Proteam inverter pumps?

Hi Kev, I think that has to be the most compact ASHP I've seen, I see what you mean about it being awkward to get your stuff round there to set it up, with the wifi and controlling it is it done through a app and can you see what temperature it's at and can you alter the temperature through it, looking forward to part 2, stay safe. Rob.

Cheers Rob. The unit was not actually anymore expensive as some of the others and they don't come with everything that is needed. Plus it is a stepped Invertor and Wifi

Hi Barry, I installed the 9kw Remora last Autumn after speaking to Simon, generally very pleased with the unit, very cheap to run. Disappointed with the wi-fi as very basic and no way of saving or recording data. However works ok, they changed and added a video on WiFi set up as the instructions supplied with unit were incorrect. The other thing I’ve found is the unit defrosts a lot at lower temps, not sure if this is common on the mote expensive units? Otherwise maintained my pond at a few degrees above ambient last Autumn, held 15 nicely over winter and now comfortably up to 19.

I've tested the i12 though mild temps and again for 32 days through Minus 7 and 4" of snow and it still hasn't put a foot wrong. There are a few more videos of the Remora ASHP and I cannot complain. The Wifi was to save me climbing and struggling to get round the Filter house in the dark in a hurry but to be fair I have not needed to touch it for anything and the running costs were even more amazing.

Great work on pipe work by pass taps etc can't wait to see this working and costs very interesting the operating 5c as it got to be about 5c for it to work mate as this might be a problem if that's the temp ?
@AKoiEnthusiast
@AKoiEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Barry - I must say I was well impressed with the system (See Part 2 - Soon). It should be interesting to see the costs as the temps start to drop. Not sure what you mean on the Temps. The unit will heat the water up to 40°C and cool it down to 5°C if required. It will still work when the outdoor ambient temperatures are down as low as -15°C. I have to keep looking at it to see if it is still working as it is virtually silent

@@AKoiEnthusiast What temp are you sitting it at are you uping it slowly or just going stright for high temp?
@AKoiEnthusiast
@AKoiEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
@@barrykoikeepercooper8052 The Elecro was sitting at about 17°Degrees. I have set it at the same temp for a couple of days to see how it handles. I have a couple of things to change on the pipework (Daylight permitting) and then I can put the logger on and play with it. In the time I swapped the pipework it dropped about 1°C over the day and night but the heater pulled it back through the next night once I finished and that was on the smart setting.

Can this be used to just heat up 1000 liter's of water, to 45c, The water is inside and insulated with 50mm insulation. Thanks
@AKoiEnthusiast
@AKoiEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
This model is possibly a little too big for 1,000 litres but why would you want to heat to 45C. That is 5 Degrees more than what you should safely heat a Hot Tub let alone a Koi Pond

I spoke with Simon at AES and it was a mix of two things. This Remora unit is better and more focused on Koi ponds with the controls, parameters and specs. The other reason was the availability due to the units in stock and awaiting delivery. I must admit that so far I’m not disappointed and Simon was very helpful and knowledgeable

Hi Kev. Interesting ASHP. A bit cheaper (and smaller in dimensions) than my Thermo Tec 9kW. The bypass only needed 3 union valves. The one at the beginning and the one at the end will never be used surely? Why would you ever want to close either one of those (especially the last one!).
@AKoiEnthusiast
@AKoiEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
The extra lever valves are there for two reasons 1. In case I have an issue with the ASHP and need to isolate it and more importantly 2. If it fails and doesn’t work then the old Elecro unit will fit back between the two double union valves as a modular unit quickly and easily within seconds.
@northernkoikeeper512
@northernkoikeeper512 3 жыл бұрын
@@AKoiEnthusiast Think about it Kev. You isolate the ASHP by closing the valve going to it and the valve coming back. If you then closed the valve in the centre you would have isolated the whole thing without closing the first or last valves. That's the way a ASHP bypass works. Look at any of them available. You will see 3 valves. In your setup the first and the last valve are redundant and not required. I'm not criticising the way you've done it and I'm only pointing out you can save 2 valves.
@AKoiEnthusiast
@AKoiEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
@@northernkoikeeper512 You are correct in what you say but I think you my have missed what I am saying. The reason I've got Wifi is so I can turn it on/off or Up & down no matter where I am. Similarly if I had a problem with the Unit and I needed to isolate the unit I can use the two Valves you mentioned but the rest of my household would not be able to access those two valves quickly or easily as I would so they can isolate it without any climbing or clambering through the side gate. I had spare Valves and actually used some of the the original parts to create the section of the bypass. I suppose I could have used simple Unions instead of the Double Union Valves if I wanted but if I swap the bypass section for the old Heater then there would be a lot of water lost on the floor but with the Valves I can reduce the water loss a lot.
