Heating/Boiling Water With an IMCO Lighter

Of course its not pratical and of course starting a fire would be the thing to do. I just wondered what could be done with that little lighter and now I have a good idea of its limitations. The way I see it, burning for 25 minutes is still pretty impressive!!

Absolutely, I wanted to see how far it would get. 25 minutes of continuous burning isnt bad at all.

The most practical application of the removable tank is that it makes it incredibly easy to light a camp fire which you can then use to boil your water. :) 🔥🔥🌡

Interesting use of this great lighter. Two things are missing to make this to be used in the outdoors. A windscreen and some sort of lightweight lid of some sort which would decrease boil times

25min, Quite impressive I just ordered 2 of these Lighters And would never guess the burn time would be that long. Ps don't try that with a Zippo After thay get so hot thay turn into a fire ball. Yep Tryed the same experiment you did.

might be better off conserving the lighter fluid, use the lighter to build a small fire & then have the fire boil the water. i know you already knew that & this was just an experiment though.

You could boil it the coffee maker method by running little water on a tube i think it will heat way faster

True! Should have tried it, maybe improvising with some aluminum foil.

You can buy it from Amazon for new ones, or you can hit Ebay for both new and second hand. I bought myself a new and second hand, just to see how it would "age". It will cost not more than 10$. I hope it helps :)

just spent quite a long time tryig to find one of these lighters online that will ship to Canada, with no luck. It seems that most of the supply is sold out. Anyways just wondering if you had ever considered opening a small online store as i would rather support someone like you then a larger corporation.

wait for 25 min for just a glass of hot water. I feel this i s not sensible .. and you end up exhausting the lighter fuel . who would do that .. in the case situation optimum use of the lighter fuel is most important than a glass of water. wel its just my point of you

Was that a 25 minute straight burn under the water? Impressive if it is? What kind of fuel did you use?
