Aircrete as an insulating material sounds great. Aircrete for the firebox or heat riser will deteriorate before long in a well-functioning rocket core, as portland cement disintegrates far below the 1500-2000 F temperatures inside the core. If the core is not getting that hot, it is not getting full clean combustion. Aircrete for the mass would be counterproductive unless made very dense, as the air bubbles in it are insulators.

As I watch your videos I am constantly impressed with how you can pull things together in line with the known scientific operational principals and then take what you have available and adapt it. By doing this you actually expand the known . This is a rare gift. This includes the resources of people and their knowledge. Napoleon Hill named it the mastermind principal. Worth a Google. That clip where you say you just start with what you have and create as you go other wise you probably would never get it done says a lot. This is actually what Napoleons says to do. It reminds me of what I have read about Thomas Edison. I look forward to your progress. It has great potential to help- a lot of people and bring you money in the process too.

After building your bench. How did your theory work out? Does the bench heat up as expected? How prevent the heat to escape through the shimmy when the fire has been put out? Could you make a video in which you do a summery what you have indented and discovered? Did also in relation to the foam made? What are your final conclusions? I’m watching a lot of your videos but it’s a lot, so what to build according to your latest experiences?

Love what you are doing, Darwin! Living in a 12x24 unfinished (no insulation, no plumbing, incomplete wiring) Amish cabin and I need one of your wonderful ACRMH! How much for the parts and shipping? If you need a place to practice, you can come and practice on my cabin. :)

So , if you wanted to add an oven to this system , where would you locate it ? I just want to be able to use my energy, heat in multiple ways. Maybe be able to go a another direction, other than the bench , and have a oven / cook top ?

@Honey Do Carpenter Question, so if one had complete knowledge on the Peter vandenburg stove then they could run it efficiently, otherwise they don't burn so well?? Seems silly to have a system that is difficult for all but a few, who truly understand it, to make work properly. I'm diggin your design mr Honey DUDE Carpenter, thanks for explaining in detail why AND how it works. Lookin forward to someday putting some of your ideas to work for me. Thanks man.

The most efficient portable design may be an aircrete base burn chamber with cylindrical riser two feet high detachable. All those materials including removable 45 gallon drum barrel liner should have water glass coating inside. Side duct might be put through 3/4 gravel stones in a bench. It might be good to add stucco wire outside each for strength. Intake & vortex fresh air supply is needed. The whole system could be back up house heating.

Florida could use this outside to keep your plants warm. Lol

Last summer, I constructed a rocket mass heater in my living room. Overall, I am very pleased with the way it works, that said, however, this summer, I will be dismantling half of it, so as to expose the length of exhaust pipe, which currently runs through the mass. Currently, the mass gets warm and stays warm for several days, but it does not actually heat my house very much, so my hopes are that by exposing the exhaust pipe and placing it inside a vented seat constructed of air Crete,I will be able to create a flow of air up the outside wall across the ceiling and down in the center of my house, thus heating up the entire space more efficiently, still using only a small amount of wood. Wish me luck.

You probably had too much thickness of cob around the ducts. Around 4-6" of cover is generally recommended. A better style of mass for your situation would be the "half-barrel bell": 55 gallon drums split in half lengthwise and set cut side down, as many as you have length for all connected with open ends. Run the core exhaust into the bell, and the chimney pipe from the base of the bell. Cover with cob to minimum 3-4" thickness. No friction to reduce draft, a bit less mass to be heated, faster heat transmission. Aircrete is the wrong way to go about mass - it is inherently insulating and will slow the transmission of heat, and has less mass in a given volume to store heat. Plain concrete will transmit heat faster than cob, and has even more mass per volume, though it doesn't allow adjustments after construction. Convection (moving air) is a less efficient way to heat than radiation or conduction which is what the RMH excels at.
