C. H. Spurgeon - Baptist preacher
The descendant of several generations of Independent ministers, he was born at Kelvedon, Essex, and became a Baptist in 1850. In the same year he preached his first sermon, and in 1852 he was appointed paster of the Baptist congregation at Waterbeach. In 1854 he went to Southwark, where his sermons drew such crowds that a new church, the Metropolitan Tabernacle in Newington Causeway, had to be built for him. Apart from his preaching activities he founded a pastors' college, an orphanage, and a colportage association for the propagation of uplifting literature. Spurgeon was a strong Calvinist. He had a controversy in 1864 with the Evangelical party of the Church of England for remaining in a Church that taught Baptismal Regeneration, and also estranged considerable sections of his own community by rigid opposition to the more liberal methods of Biblical exegesis. These differences led to a rupture with the Baptist Union in 1887. He owed his fame as a preacher to his great oratorical gifts, humour, and shrewd common sense, which showed itself especially in his treatment of contemporary problems. Among his works are The Saint and his Saviour (1857), Commenting and Commentaries (1876) and numerous volumes of sermons (translated into many languages).
Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

@du5t00 The context of the scripture makes more sense verse 11 Matthew 8, says that many will come from the east and west, that's a good indication that God will draw sinners as far as these directions while verse 12 says that the subjects of the kingdom will be casted aside and we should not boast about it. The context is what makes all the difference.

It's not the preacher so much as it is the parishioners who pray for the preacher- it was spurgeon i believe who invited a man to come and see 'from whence he gets his power to preach' and showed the man a room full of members, praying- They prayed while he preached- they were dedicated to the word- and prayed fervently for God's word to be accepted wide and far- The question i think should rather be "Where are the true parishioners?

Question for our prosperity, feel good, modern American "prophets": Would you ever consider preaching a sermon like this? Are your sheep "feeling good" all the way to eternal destruction? Take a look at Biblical prophets and their messages. Nowhere did they proclaim feel good to the wicked. Take the account of the prophet of God, Micaiah, and Ahab's bogus 400. The 400 proclaimed success to wicked Ahab: "Yes, go up, for the Lord will give it unto the king!" Micaiah: "You will die."

Hearing the true Word of God preached is becoming a rarity. Most of the churches are more concerned with helping people feel good about themselves even when they are not saved and or saved but not living for God. Puppet Pastors who are more concerned about their paycheck, the clock, the deacon board and or trustee's than whether or not they are following the will of God by preaching the whole counsel of God. They sing and shout and testify creating an atmosphere of worship so the congregation will feel good and open their wallets and purses to give their offerings but in the end it is nothing more than "wild fire", "false fire" and is an abomination to our God. You cannot serve the flesh, the world and the devil all week long and then expect God to accept your offerings on His day. These are they who will cry out at the White Throne Judgement "Lord did we not preach in thy name" and the Lord we declare unto them "I never knew you". Discern the spirits, try the spirits for many false prophets are gone out into the world. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.
