I’m a bass player, Geezer was and still is the reason I got into the bass. I started out playing the guitar 🎸 and a bro I used to jam with in high school played bass, told me I was a natural at the bass whenever I would fuck around with his axe. I have big hands, those long fingers helped a lot in nailing down those fat strings. Being 6’3” has its bennyz. I been covering Geezer’s riffs forever, that’s probably the origin of my own style. Dio had such a beautiful control over the voice. Remarkable singer and musician. There are so many fine details in this piece that could be analyzed forever, but just to point something small, still beautiful: from 1:08 starts a long "baaaaaaaaaaaall". Now, its first straight, although very strong and well supported, sound and then after 2/3 released to a very accurate operatic vibrato. A great example how a great singer can control his voice... and effortlessly.
