We were really surprised when we visited Scarborough at the end of August at all the vans in North Bay. I quite liked it but you could see some folks becoming more of an encampment rather than a stop over. Hopefully it doesn’t get stopped for those who use it. I even think if they charged a fee for overnight, something reasonable maybe £5 given the facilities and embrace it. We enjoyed Scarborough and will definitely be back (all be it we didn’t stay at the North bay 😊) All the very best, David & Rachel 👍

We only go a couple of times a year and never in the warmer months so don't see anyone sitting outside etc. We love watching the surfers. Thank you for watching . Hope your well 💗

We love it there , Parked in the exact same spot on that corner 2 weeks ago. Always go in Taylors as the food is great , can recommend the the loaded nacho's with Chili . We will be back again soon maybe over the xmas break. Always something to do and Charlie loves it. Cars passing do not bother us at all. It is a great place to park up . Take Charlie on the skate park with his scooter and watching all the surfers is great on a Sunday morning. Free parking Heaven for us👍

I just try to put myself in a resident’s position, if i liked to park up and take my dog for a walk on the beach and can’t get parked up I wouldn’t be happy, I also own a 7m caravan but I’m sure if I parked it up taking 2 or 3 parking spaces I would be told to move on. My point is we don’t get much in this country for nothing but if we upset the locals it will be stopped and that would be such a shame, I know you quote the owners in the pub saying they don’t mind it but I think you would get a totally different answer from a member of the general public who doesn’t have a business interest in the area.

We totally understand what you're saying and if we turned up and there wasnt any free spaces once we parked. Then we wouldn't stay. We stated this on a previous video. (No overnight parking) The Scarborough Facebook group has mixed reviews the majority of locals without business interests seem to be in favour, then there is others as you say disgruntled. Which is why we say its a bit of a controversial one this time. Again thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. We love all people's points of view. ❤

Hi this campervan problem is country wide not just Scarborough . I agree it's not easy for the councils to enforce limits or rules to parking without upsetting someone.afterall the campers do bring money to the local economy . but locals wouldn't have a problem with them if they didn't treat it like a campsite . unfortunately Marine drive has this issue of campers treating it like a campsite pitching tents BBQs gazebos, overstaying their welcome making themselves at home . WHY THIS ISN'T AN ENTITLEMENT BUT A PRIVILEGE . So why doesn't Scarborough put a limits on how long you can stay . And what you can put up regards tents / BBQs etc. that would help solve alot of the locals issues .happy campers happy locals . Lol I'm not trying to be a killjoy I've got a VW campervan myself and parked on marine drive last night . Just to see what it's all about .?? The view was AMAZING WE WATCHED A LOVELY SUNSET OVER THE BAY .so yes I do understand why people are camping there .the cars going passed didn't bother us . But even for one night we spotted a lot of issues. The toilet block was disgusting water everywhere and rubbish just left on the floor . Not enough toilet cubicles working was a problem. Only 2 cubicles was open at night ?? The length of a campervan / motorhome is always going to be an issue because Parking bays are not suitable for longer vans . Sorry I don't have the answer with that problem I suppose it's up to the area council to help solve that issue . .

@@kinderkev we totally agree regarding bbq and setting up camp, we never visit in the summer months as our van takes two and half spaces. And we think that's three cars, and as much as we do spend on our visits it's not three cars worth. The state of the toilet block isn't really to do with self contained vans - they tend to use the elsan point but yes even in the winter months it's always a bit of a state come 4pm. Agree the restrictions regarding bbq and setting out chairs and camps should be addressed. Thanks for watching, hope you are having a lovely summer ❤️

They seem to encourage with the elsan point, but we would also gladly pay , nice park up and no chance of getting stuck in the mud xx

Stayed twice in our 5m campervan I wouldn’t go as far of saying it’s hell but on the other hand I don’t think it’s heaven, on one of the occasions it was very busy and woke up to a van that had shoe horned itself in at the side of us making it very difficult to open our doors. This wasn’t helped the fact some vans were parked sideways taking up to 4 spaces, I think if you can’t fit in a single space then you shouldn’t be able to park, it’s great the council have allowed this and catered for toilet waste disposal, it would help for the bigger vans if the council would remove the big rocks so bigger vans could reverse further in. I fear if the popularity continues it will be stopped.

We are 7 meters and try park on the few areas that we can fit if not try to part near the meters (only on the winter when not need don't go in the summer) so we only take 2 spaces instead of three. Totally agree with the removing the rocks to enable the larger vans to overhang. Thanks for watching. Enjoy your travels 💗

People only stay for a night or two & think nothing of it but the residents have to put up with hundreds of vans all season. Some have been taking the p staying for weeks up on the old Filey road near cayton. People throwing 💩 all over the place. It’s disgusting. Go and stay on caravan sites. No town in England is perfect so it’s pointless rating anything. All councils are underfunded and in massive debt. Scarboroughs is now controlled by Northallerton.

We totally agree with you on over staying, and no excuse for dumping human waste like that. Regarding staying on campsites, we only visited Scarborough in the winter months when most are closed for the season. Marine drive had a waste point at the toilet block too which encouraged campers. Shame really the surfers etc will also suffer now because of people being disrespectful. We only ever stayed 2 nights max ( in the winter months when parking was plentyful) and always left no trace. @@campervancodgers124 Something needed to happen because it seems like every man and his dog now owns a mobile camper, stealth van ect. During this season there was up to 50 vans down there. We don’t know who is leaving waste responsibly & who isn’t. What annoyed the locals further is the fact that some campers have set up a petition to reverse the decision. Totally ignoring the residents concerns. These rules by the council should’ve been in place long ago.

@@bear1245 I think designated bays and a charge is the way forward and enforce those that don't stick to designated bays, we'd have happily paid for the view in winter just need big enough bays. More revenue for the town while keeping the numbers reasonable. I do know I've seen a few of the smaller businesses that rely on the winter revenue have contacted the council. Didn't know campervan owners have. I'm sure the council will review sensibley x
