I've been through the same with my body all my life....cravings, stuffing myself, overexercising to make up, just so unhealthy. Now, in midlife, I've finally got balance. It's come from only eating whole foods, which I prepare at home every day. I finally feel fully nourished. 🙂

I tried to be high carb vegan for decades. I was always hungry and never achieved a level of satiety (fullness). After I tried vegan keto and am never hungry all the time. What is significant about this is that with vegan keto, you are not grazing, binging or mindlessly eating all the time.

So thankful I found you again. I tried doing keto, helped my anxiety but I hated eating animals to do it. I tried a whole foods plant based diet and with my carb addiction I would go out of control. Then i saw your video in my feed and was like duh, best of both worlds, thank you 💚. I will be binging on your content.

This is SO helpful. I'd been Vegan Keto for years with the same results but recently fell off. Now not only have I gained significant weight but I'm back to the constant cravings, overeating large amounts even of salads and still wanting more. I'm waking up hungry, going to bed hungry and I feel like I've lost the peace and control as well as joy and freedom I once experienced. I'm trying to get back on track but it feels SO much harder now. ☹

@@the_specialista6319 No, actually keto reduced my cravings and helped control my food addiction in which I'd lost over 100 lbs. My problem was in expeeiencing a major life event and loss, I went back to my destructive habits and suffered more. Now, however I am getting back on track with my health and recieving support for my grief.

I have been on Clean/Healthy Keto for over 4 years. It has been absolutely amazing. I am healthier than I have ever been and I will never go back to a sugar based diet. I've recently been feeling like I want to reduce , or eliminate, animal products from my diet. You have inspired me to do at least 1 year of Vegan Keto. If it works for me I will stay on it for 4 years to compare it to my Clean Keto data. Also, you're channel is so genuine and honest. Thank you for doing this. As a Type 2 diabetic I was given Dr Neal Barnard's book on reversing diabetes. It turned me vegan but didn't really help my blood sugars. I realised, after a year or so that I was eating way too many carbs (pulses/pasta/sweet potatoes/bread). Then I found you, Heavenly Fan! and my bloods have gone back to normal, I've never felt better but I also eat delicious food and actually don't feel restricted. Thank you :)

I am a thin vegan for EONS but yeah, I'm not sure HCLF is going to fix my blood sugar issue. Even Dr. Barnard once told me to switch to Eco Atkins. But, in the past, if I cut carbs too much, I lose all energy, my insomnia gets worse, etc. It's frustrating. I'm not diabetic, but usually in the pre-diabetic range and there is a lot of diabetes in my family on mom's side.

Except high-carbohydrate low-fat diets leads to lower HbA1c than high-fat diets; in other words, you weren't eating too much carbohydrate, you were still eating too much fat. *_«Surprisingly, given the enthusiasm for LCHF diets in the media and from some professional commentators, we found that lower carbohydrate intake was associated with significantly greater odds of T2DM and higher HbA1c concentration. Higher adherence to conventional dietary recommendations (basing meals on starchy carbohydrates, lower fat and saturated fat contents, eating more fruits and vegetables) was associated with lower HbA1c concentration.»_*

@@Atheria444: A high-carbohydrate low-fat diet will absolutely fix all your blood sugar issues. You just need to make sure your fat intake is really low, and that you eat a lot of fully fresh and ripe fruit rather than starches (fructose helps to metabolize glucose without releasing insulin, and has been known to cure diabetes for over a century).

Great video Fan. I started doing keto and intermittent fasting about 2 years ago. I was very strict when I first started because I wanted to get results as fast as possible to keep me motivated. After reaching my goal and losing fifty pounds in six months I decided that it would be fine to eat whatever I want from time to time. I’m happy to say that this less restrictive approach is still working well for me and I’ve kept the weight off.

For years I've been making your recipes; just today I found this vid, on the keto process itself. It's great to hear how you experience this way of eating. Like others here, I've also missing meals when not feeling hungry. At first I thought I'd just forgotten what I'd eaten (which was a bit worrying!!); then that feeling of not being shackled by food took over, and I fell in love with ketogenic nutrition. More power to you for all that you do!

This feeling to be never hungry again was for me the most important point in this way of diet. My whole life I had to cut my food other wise I would gain weight. I‘m sportive and slim, but as a little child I was a little thicker and all the adults around me give me treats to show their love, because they had no time for me. I was raised up and lived during the week the first three years of my life in a foster family because my parents both had to work to survive. My foster parents lost their own baby and gave me all their love and more they had to me. Now I‘m 56 and first time in life I‘m not battling with my habits to eat. I‘m feeling so free and happy. Thanks for your channel. You give me so much daily inspiration.

You are so right about the freedom from thinking or all that anxiety inducing food logging. When I started vegetarian keto…I kept it very simple and stripped down. That is where most of my weight loss came from quickly. Then I started doing a lot of baking and things went sideways with a stall. If you keep it simple 90% of the time and then treat yourself with home made keto baked goods or just small bite sized pieces on the daily it’s amazing how good you feel. Not hungry and constantly obsessing over food. So weird when I am on sugar (went off Keto for a whileeee but back now!) sugar makes me kinda kooky tbh! Gets me very moody, depressed and kind of obsessive! I feel soooo great on Keto honestly. Love your videos and soothing voice. Your food is wholesome and creative. @@TheBosslady0417 On keto, I often mix half almond flour half powdered wheat gluten and any seasoning you like. I turn that into flat breads that I cook in a skillet. You can then add vegetables and tofu baked or sauteed. The options are endless. But using a recipe like that to make flatbreads or adding yeast and making sandwich bread is helpful.

Isn’t it interesting how you experience “hunger” when you’re eating truly low-carb?! I honestly didn’t verbalize it this way- you have found the words for it. It’s this exact phenomenon that might be the motivating factor that causes people to become experimental cooks! I’ve seen this happen to people who’ve never done more than microwave frozen food, but on low carb, begin cooking complete meals and desserts.

So recognisable, i also struggled with food choices! I wanted to eat and live vegan, but there are a lot of carbs in it. A ketogenic eatpattern works for me, i don't have a blowed belly when i eat keto. But al that meat, that's the reason that i stopped with it. So than i am eating keto (meat) and than vegan, and than keto, vegan, keto, vegan .....😂. For me is Vegan Keto the best way to eat. I tried it once, but i followed a program, which who used tons of hempseeds 😂, i only live on hempseeds and other kind of seeds. For me it was to boring. So i stopped with it. But now i try it again, but on a different way then the first one. But to get there, i'm eating vegetarian in the first place. For me it's a little bit easier to finish with a 100% vegan keto lifestyle / diet finally.

Plan "B" as you call it is really Plan "A" as far as human physiology is concerned. Fat adaptation is normal for humans. Eating carbs all day long is the cause of a host of maladies and diseases. I've always appreciated your ability to verbalize the subjective aspects of diet and nutrition. I love these videos. They are very helpful! Thanks!

Thank you for this. I have often tried your recipes and they always turn out great. I loved listening to this video. I am T2D and because of keto I am diet controlled. My weight loss has been slow and I have never understood this, I follow keto and intermittent fasting. I am trying to keep motivated as my health is good, if not my weight 😂

Your explanation was spot on, thank you for taking time to do this video. I agree about the discovery about how relaxing and freeing it is. It was especially helpful to me who 'lived to eat' and food was always at the top of my list until keto came along and what a surprise it was.

Thank you so much for all the recipes you have given us. I have become allergic to meat and eggs. I think it was from tick bites here in Australia. It left me with a fear of what to eat. I knew I had to be vegan and I have celiac disease so have always eaten gluten free. But now I had to find recipes that were vegan and gluten free. You have given me this wonderful net to fall into.

I am going to start with a comment .. "do this forever, get out" .. oh I laughed and thought that's the reason I will never remarry LOL. Okay, kidding aside, Fan this was one of your BEST annual reviews of your health insights. So practical and refreshing. I was also a life-long vegetarian and deviated here 'n here over the years. However, as healthy as I thought being a vegetarian was, I was never felt 'settled' in my body and it took me years to do something about it. Although I craved and ate vegetarian foods. I was very overweight and bloated but I was eating healthy, right? Not so fast, sista. I have a (visual and gag reflex) aversion to meats, eggs and shellfish but you know, I tip-toed into low carb several years ago and I knew I was on to something. I never did keto full-on but low-carb was speaking to me. While I struggled with the proteins, I was feeling better and I ended up losing a massive amount of weight to the point where my body felt right and settled. Still, my eyes craved vegetarianism but my body craved low carb. You are right - your body will bring you back to where it feels right. Learning to listen is the key even though we may be kicking 'n screaming our way through the very foods that are harming us, we know better. I am very emotionally/physically content on low carb. I sleep better, my joints feel good and my mood is better. I think like you where I cannot have my life burdened with a poor eating plan as it will never help in the long run. It is good to see you again on here, your following appreciates your recipes and your wisdom 💖

Very informative and encouraging. I found your channel a couple of years ago and have tried many of your recipes for my daughter who has coeliacs and chooses veganism. Some very tasty food and at last learned how to cook with tofu. Thanks!

As someone who has had food issues all across the spectrum and also done a ton of personal experimentation to try to heal the issues, I really, really identify with all you've done here. Your channel is truly helpful and your whole manner is very soothing on complicated confusing and oftentimes very frustrating overbearing issues we face with food ❤

Hello Havenly Fan, Thank you so much for all this wonderful info. and delicious recipes!! I am so happy and feel grateful to find your videos:) I recently got interested in Keto diet and IF and started practicing this for about half a month. I have been trying several of your recipes. They perfectly fit the cooking style that I am looking for which is easy, fun, simple (sort of "the less is more style" )! I practiced this Keto diet really not for weight loss at all, but simply for long-term well-being, so your videos/info. are what I really need! I really appreciate that you are so generous, caring, and sincere in sharing your life/diet journey! Best Wishes!

I can relate big time. Diagnosed with diabetes Jan. 2023. Always loved high protein and fresh veggies. But unaware of how much starch, gluten, carbs and sugars in breads in American food. Now total Keto learning a new way of cooking which I enjoy. Thank you.

Thank you for this video and all your delicious recipes! I totally understood what you meant when you said you didn’t know anything except hunger and feeling full to the point of sick. That was me for most of my life. I started Keto a couple years ago and lost 80 pounds. Since then I have gone vegan. Part of my issue was that I knew wheat did things to my brain but I also suffered from massive GI issues and was fearful of going vegan. I still have some Gi issues but feel vegan is my preferred way to eat so I’m sticking with it. Since going vegan I’ve gained 10 pounds but I wasn’t doing vegan keto because I didn’t think it was possible. You have given me renewed determination to make it work. Thank you so much! 🤗

What you say makes perfect sense, and clearly shows the connection between body and mind. Or to put it more appropriately, the CONSCIOUSNESS of the connection. Hunger is frequently a mental as much as a physical sensation. I am a very new vegan, and this week I had a good, filling meal at around 6 p.m., and felt satisfied right up to the following evening, and even then not uncomfortably hungry, As someone suffering from morbid obesity this was a first. I am so glad I have opted to be vegan. I feel clean, and free .(And I have dropped 7lbs in a week without effort).

That was REALLY well said!! Good job articulating something that is so complex and difficult to explain, but you sure did it!! It happens that you and I are just alike on all points you spoke about, so to hear you articulate that was really illuminating and clarifying and concise and I sure do thank you for that ♥️also I really like your recipes! 👍 Like you said not everyone is alike but you and I are, and anyone who has experienced these kind of issues will benefit from what you've said. Love the approach and thought process on working with your own body’s signals to find what works best for your own body. For myself going from high carb to low carb eating overnight didn’t end up being suitable for me. My goal isn’t necessarily going keto but it is definitely a goal to eat less carbs then I was eating. I’ve struggled with processing foods for as long as I can remember. I went gluten free probably about ten years ago. It’s been about 5-6 years since going vegan. Each of those changes really helped me feel better as I didn’t experience so much pain after eating. I’ve been high carb since going vegan with the last two weeks being more mindful of the carbs I’m eating. I was logging my food for the first four days trying to stay under a certain number and had to roll that back when my body felt unwell going from one extreme to another. I’m now working on finding the right balance for my body but not being rigid with guidelines. I’m not there yet but slowly I know I’ll find what works for me. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and openness you provide on your channel. The recipes are great but the energy and calmness you have with yourself on your journey is truly am inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
