Your disclaimer is a great point. Everyone studies differently. Oddly, I study w/ extremely loud music in the background. I kid you not, I aced physics/math and other exams whenever I study in an extremely loud room. Quiet rooms don’t work for me. Even live karaoke helps me focus. No idea why. 😂

Oh my goodness! No idea how your video ended up in my KZbin home page but you are delightful. 40 years ago I ruined the summer after graduating college taking the Becker course and there’s no question I would not be a CPA today if I didn’t take that course. We met in some rented hall three nights a week. I think the way you described your efforts tells me why you nailed it....you worked hard and deserved to pass. I’ll never forget they said their student history showed that if I came to every class and did homework I would likely pass the exam. I said “ok I’ll do just that then”. If I was someone watching this that had yet to pass it I’d be saying “I’ll do just what she did”. Becker should thank you for your video. I hope you never lose your wonderful personality as your career unfolds....the profession is in good hands if there are a lot more like you out there.

@db4175 жыл бұрын
@@joym1925 Regulations was messy for Wiley. Used miles cpa review only for reg. The thing about reg in cpa is that they test only the basic concepts. If you have a US college degree and had federal tax in college as a paper then I would presume it would be enough to get you through. I am Indian. So US regulations was new for me. But even I did not need the huge amount of data that was there in Wiley for reg. Wiley covers a lot of ground. For Reg in CPA I feel that that's not needed. In CPA they test mainly Aud and Far so I would suggest you allot more time to those 2 papers. They are harder to pass tha reg or bec.

I definitely studied each section individually. I don't know how anybody retains knowledge of multiple sections at once - but people do! I didn't move on and start studying another section until I passed the prior one. With the exception of REG because I had to wait 3 months for my audit results to post. Good luck with figuring it all out! The CPA license is definitely worth it if you can get it!

I have studied CA (relatable to US CPA but in India) and I approached the IPCC (2nd level out of 3 exams, nonetheless same difficulty) in 2 Ways 1st Way- It was to study everytime i got and anytime i got Failed 3 times 2nd Way- Then I followed my heart, and started playing PC games (mainly csgo and pubg) and it was like 80% games 20% studies {Good thing my family never pressured me into studying as they were really supporting in whatever I choose to do, till this day, Love them} And guess what, passed with good marks on my very next attempt all subjects at once *Pretty sure its not how much you study or how you study, but how happy you are while you are studying is what matters*

When you studied, did you complete the entire lecture in the chapter before you do the questions or listen a section of the chapter and do questions. Does Becker allows to break sections of the chapter. Because I feel like some chapters are to long and it would be ideal to practice questions by subchapter rather than a bulk chapter.

Junior year business/accounting student with low GPA here (stems mostly from a lack of purpose and motivation as an underclassman and being required to take a lot of libart classes I disliked) but regardless of the reason, my grades are bad and I'm unsure what my next steps should be. I wasn't originally considering a CPA, but more and more I feel like it may be the only thing that will help me succeed in this field with my poor undergrad academics. Do you think getting a CPA straight out of college would make a significant impact on my job prospects, or will having a low GPA restrict me from even getting the hours I need to get the CPA? Would I be more likely to find work if I can show that I have passed one/more of the CPA exams, or even just have the intent to take the exams? I also go to a big name top 40 school, with notoriously hard grading so I know that might also help my chances. I understand you may not have advice or experience with this, but any comments or suggestions you have would be nice to hear regardless.
@HeavensAudventure4 жыл бұрын
Olivia no matter what your grades are, if you can pass the CPA, you will definitely be set. It's just getting the CPA that would be the most challenging on the grade-front. Only passed classes will count and every state board is different so you'll have to look on NASBA.org 's website to see your state's requirements because they may require all A's and B's in accounting and business classes, or it may not matter. It just depends. Once passing the CPA exams, you won't be licensed until you've met the experience requirement for your state but if you plan to study for the exams first before landing a big kid accounting job, I don't see you having any trouble finding a job after passing the exams. Firms/large companies/even my State government job are all highly pushing for the CPA license. All of that being said, if you don't go through with studying for the CPA, I don't blame you one bit at all, but you may have trouble finding a starting accounting career only because you'll be competing with other accounting students with possibly higher GPAs. But don't sell yourself short either, accounting is a profitable field and I think you'll be just fine.

It's weird that in america you get to choose what exams to get but here in my country ( Philippines ) we need to take everything (6 subjects) in 2 weekends. And we follow international standards (IFRS & IAS, ISA, basically every standard related to accounting globalization). Extremely low national passing rate though of just 14-18%.

Calvin M every country is different! Yours is probably to be a CA and from what I read, a lot countries won’t let people do true accounting work until they get licensed, meaning more candidates for testing and less pass rates. Here in the US, way more accountants don’t go through licensing to be a CPA because it’s not required for most positions. You can still make a really good living without getting licensed. But like I said, it’s all different everywhere!

I'm actually taking the CPA Exams, and tomorrow is the last day of my exams. I feel really scared hoping that I see my name in the passers list this October... I'm really bad with FAR and AFAR, both are tomorrow. I only saw this on my feed, in the middle of animation memes and KZbin Gamers. I wish I saw this before!!

CPA exam in the PH? So how's the last day of exam. I bet it's better than Tax and Aud
@ynaestrel14925 жыл бұрын
@@cyrilcalalo1236, well AFAR was okay. I think FAR was kinda... murderous. The worse subject was actually tax. 😭 We had this whole tax and law reform that made soooo much changes in comparison to what we learned in college. The changes were only approved a couple of months ago, but we had to cram it all in. Definitely exhausting. At least it's over. Pass or fail, I'm glad I finally could take a break. Thank you for the concern! 💕

Please talk to me about the weekends? I am having some difficulties. How do you study 20 hours on the on the weekend? Wow! That is impressive. Do you take breaks? How long? What did you eat? Or drink to stay up that long? From what time to what time did you study?
@HeavensAudventure5 жыл бұрын
John Clinton early on in my studying I studied 8-10 hours a day every weekend day but later on with BEC and FAR I rarely had time for studying more than 5 hours a day. Also, my weekends are 3 days long usually. I definitely take breaks for meals and rest. Some tv watching, going outside. You can coop yourself up too long you'll go crazy haha I'd start at about 8am on a weekend and study at different coffee shops or go outside to study, but constantly changing it up throughout the day to keep my mind sharp. 8pm was usually my cutoff as I try to be in bed by 9pm. But everything works differently for everybody and it depends too on your life and what you have going on that you need to work around

Hi I have a question, how long you study per subj? Do you study 1 subj per day? Congrats btw😀
@HeavensAudventure5 жыл бұрын
Jason Kennedy if by per subject you mean the different exams - I spent roughly about 2-4 months per subject studying before moving onto another exam. I kept studying if I failed the exam (audit) before moving on.

Can I ask do you think what you learned from college helped? I am well removed from school and remember nothing. I work in auditing as well!

The CPA study programs start from the very beginning and assume that you don't remember anything from school, so no - I don't think you need to remember anything!

Here in Philippines, you have to take the exams for only 3 days consisting of 6 subjects 3 hours each. How i wish we have a system like that here.

Antoinette Yoo it is neat how the exams are different in every country. Back in the day, the CPA exam here was taken all 4 parts together over 2 days for one single exam. But it didn't go it near the amount of detail the exam does now. And pre-computer age means they didn't have to deal with the task based simulations! Haha can you tell I'm bitter

I took BEC three times. The first time I got a 67, then I got a 72, then I got a 79. The last time I completely thought I failed. I thought I got a 50 but God allowed me to pass. I also took Audit before the window closed and I got a 51. I just found out today and I need to check the score release form. I’m not sure why I failed, the mc was really easy. I think the sims got me. I think I’m going to move on to FAR and REG and then circle back. I’m honestly just discouraged. That exam was not hard and honestly I wanna be like those people who pass on the first try but I guess not. Any tips on the sims? Is it just luck?
@HeavensAudventure4 жыл бұрын
Lovely Bev I'm glad you conquered BEC! Honestly with audit I don't have any real secrets or tips. I struggled so hard with the SIMs on that exam. I was scoring in the 90s on MCQs while studying and couldn't freaking pass the real thing. I will say the AICPA practice test helped me a lot for audit Sims. They used similar ones to what I had. But I do think I just happened to land a good set of sims when I finally passed it. I also filmed a whole video about the audit exam - idk if you've seen it or not. Titled "what I learned after taking the audit exam 4 times"
