You haven't lived til you've seen a Montrealer reverse parallel park a Toyota Corolla into a tight parking space settling on top of 3 feet of snow, just routine.It becomes second nature when you are raised in this part of the world. On a day like this if you show up for work 15 minutes late you get a dirty look from your boss.

Toronto International Airport has a lot less snow in the winter than Edmonton International Airport being very north of Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, etc. So, some winters here in Toronto we have a lot less snow and some winter a lot more and a lot more ice. From one year to another it can be very different and the Toronto Airport has to be aware of it.

Chicago O'Hare's airport was one of the first airports to have deicing available at the end of the taxiway just before takeoff. Did you notice that the planes have their flaps configured at almost full flaps for takeoff? Even with the newer deicing materials that are used today, the pilots need to get the plane in the air ASAP after deicing.
@gomphrena-beautifulflower-80436 жыл бұрын
Robert Brown • I always used to worry about that, how much icing was being accumulated between that last de-icing and the takeoff roll. I just knew the pilots weren't paying any attention, or were taking it for granted! I'd look around, and if I didn't see any other concerned faces, I'd settle back into my seat. (As if the other passengers knew.) But I guess they did, as we never had any incidents!
@rjb0736 жыл бұрын
Sit back and relax and know that your pilot wants to live just as bad as you do. When I flew for United, I never took any chances. A delay of 15 minutes can usually be made up in flight.
@siggizippan80766 жыл бұрын
First of all that video was shot when snow was falling and the temperature was probably around *1, *2 or *3C and therefore, no ice condition and no arctic winds in Toronto. No deicing was necessary. Please, like airports in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Buffalo, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal know when they have to employ the deicing equipment because a certain temperature or wind condition have been reached.
