Oh my god thank you so much! I also have a 2012 Chevrolet volt and live near Montreal. I just had to flip my mirror after parking cause it was tight, but then my driver mirror was loose bc it was rotten inside. If I hadn’t touch it, it would have stayed solid for a while but it’s loose and I can see the pivot is corroded like you. I’ll try your trick before buying a whole new set, Merci beaucoup

very helpful, good idea for reinforcing the casting and replacing the pivot. I will try it on my car.
