Very interesting video and repair instruction, well done. Yellow Jacket used to sell the genuine replacement seal cup but discontinued it as a part. I got one from them before they discontinued. Then I found one more on ebay but paid a lot for it. Yellow Jacket no longer uses that pump. The original seal is teflon not paper as you said. I’ll try the link you provided to order your suggested replacement…I have my doubts if it will stand up to the refrigerant and oil that it is exposed to. Also, I found that heating the seal cup and crankshaft with a heat gun helps soften the factory loctite to unscrew the cap…they can be real tight! Please post again after you have used it for a while. I run three of these recovery units, all are 12+ years old. The other problem is that the electronics crap out. I use a 1/2 HP 3N1 relay start kit, throw away all the electronics and run the pump direct from the start kit from the breaker and on/off switch. It works perfect BUT beware that there isn’t high pressure cut out if you screw up. The capacitor start kit works perfect and has never failed in 10 years. Thanks again…good to see another tech thinking beyond outside the box!

It’s good to get some input from someone using these machines every day. I will only be using this occasionally. If you end up trying this seal and it fails feel free to comment on the video to let us know if it’s not the best option. I tried it once to transfer gas from one tank to another. This really pushed the limits of the machine since it was around 10 lbs of gas. Seems to hold up so far.

Oh my god thank you so much! I also have a 2012 Chevrolet volt and live near Montreal. I just had to flip my mirror after parking cause it was tight, but then my driver mirror was loose bc it was rotten inside. If I hadn’t touch it, it would have stayed solid for a while but it’s loose and I can see the pivot is corroded like you. I’ll try your trick before buying a whole new set, Merci beaucoup

I have been doing this also and I actually took the aluminum skins off to use solid wood and complete peace of wood vs. pieces of wood not only that I think that the structure is more heavy duty with triangles or X shapes in areas that can be addd for structural support. And lastly adding 5/8 whole sheets on the flat bottom where mattress lays gives it a much greater support at bottom and prevents bowing or sag of the front laying bed area and window.

Status update please. Did you ever clean up the Prius engine valve cover you mentioned had different mounting points that was dirty and why you continued using the Yaris one to keep it clean and exchange it so that the bolt above the oil cap had proper alignment. Also. How is the vehicle performance. Since it's a Yaris block does it now use 0W20 instead of 5W30 oil? Your update will be very appreciated.

@@eg487 hi, I continued to use 5W30. Car is running really good, super quiet and no oil consumption. I haven’t yet swapped the valve cover yet but I just recently cleaned it really good in my parts washer for next time I’m working in the engine area. When driving it on the highway it seems to have a bit more pep when passing cars. Fuel economy is almost the same.

I’m not entirely sure. I was told it was designed in France. I haven’t seen much online. The model is MP800. I believe it was sold for around 5k about 10 years ago. I saw it abandoned in a field. Asked the property owner if he wanted to get rid of it. Got it for a song. Will try to make more repairs and improvements to it and more videos.

Too bad they didn’t start making these campers with aluminum framing for strength and of course the wipe it out the score everything together but I don’t know I got a 94 camper. I’m not sure what it is but I don’t to me it seems like what I see what you have open up as soon as I got aluminum frame is so much better and cheaper.

Hey, get rid of that big front window on the bed and Selleck and board that up put some insulation on there and get rid of it because that window is impossible. There’s no drain holes to drain the water out from the condensation and stuff it’s best to get rid of that damn window. That’s what I’m gonna have to do.

just for other DIYers who may be attempting this: You can make the new framing right on top of the old framing, copying the size of lumber and placement while it is still in place and then take it and the old framing off, glue and screw the new luan to the new framing and then set it up where it will go. No guesswork.
