No, I’m mostly just working on punches and combos and honestly doing 6-8, 3 minute rounds on the heavy bag is exhausting by the end, so by the end I’m gassed as fuck.
@BeetleF12 жыл бұрын
not yet because i'm still having a hard time doing combinations with the heavy bag. are you using 16oz for the bag tony?
@titleboxingclubpittsford30592 жыл бұрын
I personally never get bored with the heavy bag but only when I have a structured plan for exactly what I’m going to do. I’ve seen many boxers just kind of free styling on bags and not only does this get boring, it doesn’t really push them much, technically or physically, even if they are doing timed rounds.
@turkishgetup39242 жыл бұрын
I alternate rounds between heavy bag, uppercut bag, and double end bag. I also alternate fighting ranges and mix in a few rounds of bodyweight work. That's how my first trainer taught me and I never get bored.

I'm doing punch bag sessions trying to remember what you say, and sometimes following a video to make sure I'm doing it right. A "live" real time follow along vid that you can listen to in headphones would be great! Not sure how easy this this is, just an idea.

I Love working on the heavybag. Burning calories, pushing my cardio and practicing combinations. If you ONLY do heavybag and no pads and sparring, then it gets boring super fast. Its the variety of exercises that makes combat sports so awesome.

Once again, a great video Tony. I don’t get too bored with the heavy bag because there are so many drills and techniques for my 67 year old body to work on. If I am doing 12 - 3min rounds, I rotate between the heavy bag , double end bag and speed bag, so I keep it interesting

Heavy bag is boring, thats 100% true. Because i am moved to another country, i dont have chance to spare and mitts work anymore. Always training by myself with heavybag. I used hand wraps same way, i used foam stick on a bag for same reason (head movement and rolls), really looking forward to buy a uppercut add for a heavybag. Thanks for your work Tonny! One of the best youtube boxing channels!
@ViennaGuy20002 жыл бұрын
To keep things interesting on the heavy bag I do rounds of ring/distance control with a bag that is really moving. Start the round with a big combo to get the bag swinging. Then practice ring control/shadow boxing/distance control with combos in a Lomachenko/Pacquiao/Usyk manner. My "rules" during this drill is to move with the bag back and forth so that I stay just out of range. I am not allowed to steady the bag with my hand (although I admit to cheating sometimes with well-timed counters). Then I test my distance control with jabs and combos where I have to move just into range of the swinging bag, make my combo (e.g. jab, lead hook body, pivot side step hook body) and get back out of range with my gloves up, trying to think of the potential counters I have to look out for (e.g. getting my right (lead) elbow back down to protect my ribs after a lead jab/hook). The "ring control" part is that I never step way back more than a couple centimeters out of range. So neither myself nor my opponent have a chance to drop gloves and rest. This is the classic GGG/Canelo/Usyk move to control/cut off the ring. I can move laterally but always have to stay just out of range of the constantly moving bag. With a constantly swinging bag, my feet are in motion for the entire round. With the bag on a chain, the top and bottom of the swinging bag are obviously not in a vertical line. Combos here help with precision striking on dynamically moving targets, which is much more realistic than hitting stationary targets (which only happens in your dreams in the ring!).

@@nah7612 yep, I find doing sprint intervals is good for stamina.
@gregeoryrobsonovich37692 жыл бұрын
Stamina training can be universal but can also be personal depending on the person. I've found that, while doing your 5 to 7 miles, you have to include as many all out sprints as you can because this is very helpful and just as your about to stop...just think that the Mungabe Tribe is chasing after you and you'll run farther!!!! Also, about the sprints, I only do them three times a week to allow for recovery. I've found that no shagging for a couple of days prior to the fight will help control the energy output. Tony has some good uploads on training for the fight and are well worth watching and putting into practice. Good luck on all your future fights. PS. I hope you have heard the joke about the "death by Mungabe".
