I saw this old brush mower on marketplace for $50 and couldn't resist.
It is neglected and worn out, It will be a useful machine if I can resurrect it.
A few people have asked where I got the cordless air pump, very useful tool - www.banggood.com/custlink/3mm...

Nice find in pretty good shape! Does a good job without having sharpened the blade. I’d suggest you consider cutting the front of the deck skirt off and it will cut through without you having to lift it up and down onto the bush. Most brush hogs work without the front skirt. Just a thought. You can always weld it back on if you don’t like it. Good luck!

When we cut the front end off brush cutter, it cut without lifting, but when it got into gravel, or glass, it tossed it like shrapnel for 50-feet, ok for the field, not safe anywhere else.

It's an old Masport Estate Master mower dating from 70's / 80's. Loosen the bolt on the blade pulley and the blade spindle can be moved up and down to change the cutting height. Greetings from the north island. Cheers Chris

Its an old Masport mower that contractors used to use back in the 70's - just watch out for rocks flying out the side - I think the trick was to put part of an old inner tube on the exit to slow down any rocks etc. Have seen one still being used in the last 5 years in Auckland as he did a good job of grinding the dirt out when mowing the lawn :)

Another great rescue from my favorite bloke down under! That thing really cut through that brush. I could have used that when I was clearing up the southern fence line here on the property. Couldn't get any of the mowers or tractors in close enough so I got as close as I could and then got in there and got dirty with a bladed head on a big string trimmer. I'm dreading the eastern fence line because the other side of it is HEAVILY overgrown. There is still about 1/2 acre of property on the other side of that fence that is ours that goes all the way to a creek. I'd really like to get back there and clean that land up.

The brand is rota mower, they were made in South Auckland. I'll try and find the manual I had for one. I've had a couple - great slashers. Weak point is the gearbox, the gear and helical screw are brass. The rubber o rings on the base of the gear box tend to wear out and leak - then the over heat and lunch the box. Hope this helps!

I have a very similar machine made by Ariens. Mine is walk behind, with a 24 rotary mower. By removing 2 bolts, the deck is removed and then you can attach a 24" snowblower. It also has a lock out hub so it can be 1 or 2 wheel drive. The machine is from the early 70's and still works good. I also had to replace the bearing on the spindle for the mower.

Another great video mate. Thinking of making one of these out of a lawnmower I got with a bit of a rusty deck cut the front out to that meets the ground so it's higher /open fronted maybe extend the wheels out slightly to guide the long grass & small bushes and for bit of safety so toes can't go under, (not that anyone will be around when it's in use!) I seen these things on KZbin videos in America so I reckon it was probably sold way back when maybe had a new engine as that looks newer than the rest of it I might be wrong though? But never seen one here in London England home made or shop bought, but great video and I leaned a few more tips including the Coke bottle trick! So cheers! I'll look forward to second video! 👍
