You, JJ, and Skyler sure provide the best coverage of the best fire and rescue dept ever. Hats off to FDNY, and all first responders. Stay safe.

There's no such thing as a great fire those tenants who lived in that building are now homeless and have lost all of their possessions. How would you like it if somebody said the same thing if it was your house or apartment building?
@chrisc268312 күн бұрын
@MaxPower-e1iJJ is another fire buff who follows FDNY around the city filming jobs. His KZbin is “Themajesterium” or some shit like that. I probably botched the spelling.

@@MusicLoverPearson i think the "best" was reffering to the fire department, as in "the best fire (department) and rescue department"

Thank you for your coverage of this massive monster. So fierce and everything changes in a second. That wind was something else. GOD BLESS EVERYONE and prayers for no injuries.

Freezing wind and water makes ice and tons of it. I will never forget the apartment block fire near my home during one major cold snap. Everything on the street was covered in a very thick layer of ice. Even the fire fighters and their trucks were covered in ice and constantly trying to thaw their equipment.

The breaking of the windows on the windward side of the building, caused the fire to intensify!
@johnomahony736410 күн бұрын
Unfortunately it’s necessary to get smoke and super heated gas out of the room where the guys are working. With that wind it was inevitable that this one was gonna get away from them. It’s just too much sometimes

Nice work, Nick! That was a vicious one, for sure. It seems like it sat there, just kinda smoking a little, then here came the wind and it was a major inferno. Like, hiding in the walls probably, huh? Stay safe out there!

With the extreme high wind conditions they jacked around way too long with trying to tap with handlines especially being in the middle of the apartments and in the cockloft! When interior firefighters started taking out windows it was obvious the fire just exploded out of control!

Surprised it did not go to either a full 6 to 6th or 7th alarm fire situation.Wind gusts has played a part in this fire,similar to the fires in greater Los Angeles this Difficult to bring it under control.
@FernandoZavalaTAT15 күн бұрын
It's pretty obvious that everytime they made any kind of headway, the howling winds would kick up even more and reignite the blaze and spread it even farther, making for a nearly impossible fight. But, by all means, keep exercising that armchair fierfighting P.h.D.
@FernandoZavalaTAT15 күн бұрын
@@aaronjohnson2843this might have been a de facto 6th or 7th alarm job. The FDNY has been capping alarm levels at 5 for the past year or so, only special calling of extra units can be done past that. There's one exception, where a situation unfolds that requires the next higher alarm to be transmitted for a proper response (major collapse, firefighter trapped/injured, etc), then they can go to a 6th or more.
