This is a great vid, useful information here, I’ll be working with this pedal all weekend, just got it yesterday!, I remember when the pod 1st came out, I got one asap!, then I jumped ship to the digitech gnx4 for over a decade,(excellent 4 track multi tracker and drum machine built in!). , I used various other pedals and processors until I got the line6 M9.., now I have the Pod HD500X, it seems to sound better, and more real than the others, just like the original pod did in the late 90’s.

Hey Jon. You are a beast! Thank you so much for another great instructional video. Would it possible for you to do an effects video? Explaining how to navigate and program reverb, delays, modulations, compression, etc. That would really be helpful! Especially they way you explain everything. Thanks again for talking the time to teach us the HD500X. Much appreciated!

Awesome vid. I am thinking about picking one of these up to triple as an effects processor to compliment my 6505+, a main amp using the models for easy jamming with a second band, as well as serving as a backup for my main amp if it craps out on stage or at rehearsal. It sounds like it has plenty of usable tones. I have only one suggestion, though. It seems the Brit J-800 wasn't done much justice using a super down-tuned guitar and those types of riffs. Maybe you could do a video using the Brit J-800 on something more appropriate, like 80s or 90s hard rock and metal. Keep up the good work, I've watched a couple of your HD500X videos and they've been very helpful.
@JonEleyetGuitar5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like the 500x would work out really well for you. Also, I feel ya about the J-800. I wasn't very fair to it, was I?? It would totally rip some pretty killer 80's riffs.

After using the POD for awhile I've found that IMO (not the end all be all) is that the JCM 800 boosted going into the ENGL Cab with an 87 Condenser just smacks. Sadly the SM57 on the POD, to me at least, is lack luster, it seems to make things thinner but have bite.

I keep getting Blue screen of death, Line6 stopped working on their driver's compatibility about 5 years ago, and their drivers crash Windows OS within a few minutes when using it on your computer... I bought one a month ago thinking I was going to be able to record with it, but it's useless, now I'm waiting for my interface to arrive, so I'll record using plugins/vst/IR's... Off the trash with Line6, and I thought about buying the new Pod Go, needless to say I completely changed my mind.

Also, it sounds like shit, a bit more decent through a power amp, but recording or monitoring using headphones it's unbearable, dry, tasteless, and noisy as fuck.
@JonEleyetGuitar4 жыл бұрын
Dang that's a bummer. So there's no recent drivers that will work with your computer??
@ZholGoliath4 жыл бұрын
@@JonEleyetGuitar nah man, I've tried everything, and it's not one computer, it's all 4 of them, tried with different DAW's too, it seems to be a bug on the asio code for the Pod that causes a redundancy error and crashes Windows completely, has been going for years, there are hundreds of threads and reports on line6's website and forums, and they turn the blind eye to it, L6's software has always and will always be utter shit, they probably outsource their development to some little indian office that's really cheap.

Hi Jon. As far as I know POD have build-in audio interface you can connect directly to PC via USB cable. Isn't that true? Can you please explain, why you use an external audio interface instead of using build-in one? Is there any particullar reason for that, or just a habit :)?

No, you can't change the tuning of a regular guitar. But, there's those Line 6 Variax guitars that might have that option.

Hey there! I'd love to buy a POD for recording: should I get this one or the pod HD pro?
@JonEleyetGuitar5 жыл бұрын
Hey! It's completely up to how you're going to use it. If you're only using it for recording, then you can set the Pro up in a rack or plop it on your desk and it'll be out of the way and work great. But, if you're going to be gigging with it, too, then I'd recommend the 500x. I'm pretty sure the tones are the same, though.
@AnoNym-iv9ig4 жыл бұрын
it sounds like garbage, was going to buy one used from a friend, but holy shit, Line 6 makes bad modelling amps since...hmmm...ever? You are far better of buying some old 80ties midi preamp like an ADA MP1 and a decent power amp, like an engl 50/50 or35/35. Sets you back about 500 dollar? I get anxieties just by hearing this shit :-) good video though! Kept me from buying one tomorrow *lol

Your presentations are awesome! Many moons ago, I bought a Pod HD500, just after they came out, not realizing how complicated they can be. After printing out and reading the "Advanced Guide", I was so exhausted and overwhelmed that I put it away until just recently. Now I have some time to look into it again and frankly, I am amazed that it is still viable and well supported. You mention in this video that the amp models are arranged in order of "increasing gain". I never realized that, but now it makes sense. You probably know this already, but your followers may not. There is a section of the Advanced Guide called Model Gallery that thoroughly explains what each model amp is based on. The HD500 is evidently no longer available, but the 500X is available here: line6.com/support/manuals/podhd500x Some of these amps I have never even heard of...interesting stuff!!

I'm glad you've been liking the videos! These pedalboards have so many features jammed into them that it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Sometimes, it can be inspiring to pick one of the presets installed on the board and experiment with swapping effects and amps and discovering what sounds you can come up with.

Hey Jon, thank you for this awesome video! I've had a PODHD500x for several months but I was very intimidated to work on it coz of how complicated it is. This video really helped! I didn't even know the amps were arranged according to low to high gain and I didn't know what real amps they were based on. So I really appreciate your detective work haha 😂 Please make some more videos on the POD if you can, maybe about how once you've chosen one of these amps, your approach to EQ'ing them or about how you dial in clean ambient tones etc! Thanks again :) You have a new subscriber!

Hello I need a favor ... I buy a podhd500x and when I enter the Line 6 page to download metal tones the page gives me an error and it does not let me download them. Most people who have uploaded something to KZbin have shared Line 6 links. They are old URLs and they do not work because it's a pedal that went on sale a few years ago ... I wanted to know if someone can share me aggressive metal tones and If you could teach me how to create my own distortions, the truth is that it is a little advanced because it has many buttons. The default tones are very ugly and you have to modify them yourself but I do not know anything about synthesis of effects and it is impossible for me to know that It's what I'm having.I only see buttons and buttons but I do not know what I have to do to achieve the tone I want ... I'm looking for a heavy sound to make deathcore metal core.If someone has used a spider VI Line 6 knows that I'm looking for a distorsion style insane the truth I am very frustrated because I spend a lot of money and I am not managing to do what I want and I do not have anyone to help me correctly

Lol..i rather play more than tweak easier with digitech rp500 awsome tones..or analog pedals
