Heavy Metal: Geomatrix is a 3D arena fighting video game developed by Capcom released in 2001 by both Sega for the Sega NAOMI in September 12, 2001. Based on the Heavy Metal comics magazine, Geomatrix features a dark and gritty aesthetic that combines sci-fi with fantasy locales. While it's not based on any story in the Heavy Metal universe, it features both consultation by the then-owner of the magazine (comic book artist Kevin Eastman) and character designs by comic book artist Simon Bisley. Using similar perspective and control scheme to Capcom's Spawn: In the Demon's Hand, the game presents up to 4-player combats in large arenas in what is seen as a follow-up to the basics of Capcom's Power Stone series, although more oriented to weapon fighting/shooting and a serious and dark cyberpunk tone because of the Heavy Metal universe setting. The game features a soundtrack of licensed music by artists such as Megadeth, Halford, W.A.S.P., Corrosion of Conformity, Entombed (band) and Dust to Dust.

Graphics is on par with Unreal Tournament 2003/2004... except that this game released before UT2003/2004 by TWO YEARS!

Keep in mind, this is an arcade kit. If it were the DC version, it would have been cut down and washed out. Compare, for example, Psycho Circus on the DC to the PC.

This is like if somebody made a parody of a late 90s/early 2000s game. It's SO x-treme and over the top it defies explanation. I can almost see the Napster window in the background of this being played (though I know it's an arcade and Dreamcast title, not a PC one).

The comic was an anthology. Its stories were always changing. This was more in the style of, not based directly on any specific property.

Heavy Metal: GeoMatrix just seemed like a watered down version of Spawn: In the Demon's Hands. Not sure why they toned down the violence in this one. Also, green blood? Really? In Spawn, you can blow people apart with explosives, cut them in half, and decap them (Blood is red). Heavy Metal is known for over the top violence. What gives? Not sure why they made it 2 players instead of 4. Aside from that, it was fun to play and the soundtrack kicked ass!! 🤘
