@jdkgcp4 жыл бұрын
I watch tons of flight channels/vids and one thing I've always wondered about is while pilots go through all their checklists it's always "check", "checked", "confirmed", "check" etc. The question is....what if during one of these checklists the pilot or copilot notices something seriously wrong.....what do they say? I assume it's not "Oh Sh*t". What's the command word and sequence of action?
@Visonista4 жыл бұрын
It is usually a description of the situation. For example, if the flaps were left at 10° and not retracted, one might say the check item 'Flaps Retracted' and then upon verifying their status say something like 'Negative, flaps still at 10, retracting now'.
@jdkgcp4 жыл бұрын
@@Visonista I was honestly hoping for something more dramatic like "RED, RED, RED!" Because it would be way more exciting. But all jokes aside I would have thought there would be a single command word for a major failure or error. And maybe it's just me being overly logical....but shouldn't there be? It's all "checked" and "confirmed" but no words for when it's not?
@Visonista4 жыл бұрын
@@jdkgcp Following your reasoning, when the words 'check' or 'confirmed' are used, they are immediately preceded by a description of the item being checked, therefore it is also logical to enunciate the condition of the item being checked should it fail to be as required. Regarding a more 'dramatic' response to non-conforming checklist items, we need to remember that the checklist is not really a 'test' of procedure, but an integral part of it, meaning that if an item has not yet been selected (or deselected) the opportunity to do so is made available during the check, and which is the very function of a checklist. In other words, an item which is identified as having been neglected does not constitute an emergency but merely something which must now be addressed.
