good vid. dunno about that set up though, I have a side awning and its alot quicker and easier to put up, then just strap your side walls on. I use a stretcher under it, it doesnt matter about water on the ground which is a great thing. Every1 is different though. thats whats good about camping you learn new stuff all the time.

I think a side awning would be lovely and as you say much quicker to put up. I didn't mention it in the video, but personally I am also after something I can drive in and out of and leave up, so if I am bothered by anyone in the night I can reassure myself that I could just drive off. It might sound silly or unnecessary to some but as you say the great thing is that everyone is different in their needs and wants and that makes life all the more interesting.

@@adventureot 3 hour flight, time for a movie a small meal and we are there 🥴 but TBH i think you have the paradise, to venture anywhere and no snakes 😉 ive been chased by a cranky Easter Brown, that sure gets the adrenalin pumping 😳😬 love when you camp near braided rivers, the ambiance is beautiful. Im on the east coast or south coast about 100 ks south of sydney. I am a kayak/ camper. Love your vids 🥰🥰

I know the weather was bad and the ground was not ideal for pegging but, and I’m sorry, I had to chuckle that the tent was not cooperating with you. My experience with new tents is it always seems the manufacturer doesn’t supply big enough stakes or enough stakes to get the tent set up really well. Indi was certainly at home on her bed in the car. You even putting your mat on top of her wasn’t going to bother her. Enjoyed the video Cathy!

Oh yes I had a laugh myself when I watched it back myself. Indi on the other hand had darted under the tent at first opportunity and then found the best seat in the house to observe the chaos from. Smart girl!! 🤣

It was frustrating (and I did edit out a couple of expletives) but it really was funny hey. Usually tent manufacturers videos of set up is with smiling people and mowed grass plots and sunshine. I'm just keeping it real. ha ha.

Your videos just keep getting better and better, Cathy! Your expressions were absolutely hilarious as the tent wasn't co-operating during set-up. It's clear you've become more and more comfortable in front of the camera, and your delightful personality is shining through. You were so funny, and I was laughing with you as you struggled. That's not to dismiss the fact that you're a warrior camper, a problem solver, and a dog-lover. I want to mention too that I appreciate the fact you give us the jist of your food prep and cooking. So many camping videos I've seen spend sooo much time showing every slice of every radish...onion...pepper...you get my drift. And yet your finished product always looks delicious! 👍👍👍 Good Morning Cathy .. Feedback on the tent. My guess was not too far out .. a case possibly of being on the same chapter but not on the same page. I envisaged something a lot smaller. Yep, that sheet, I don't imagine would do too well in a gale. Tent Pegs. During my earlier Caravan and Tenting Days, we used large 'V'-shaped Tent Pegs made of Spring Steel to counter strong wind gusts and such. Their design was that any pressure on the tent peg would, via the properties of the 'spring steel' and shape of the peg, 'pull' it deeper into the ground. Too big and heavy for lightweight backpacking, but ideal for car camping and such. Strange though, I have never seen any used on You Tube Posts that I watch. A good 'car camp' every once in a while is well-deserved and not heresy, necessitating a 'burning at the stake' of the incumbent .. rather of a nice lamb chop on one 😋. I think that tent is designed for level hardstanding ground on campsites where you can pin the edges down so you can use the mesh and ventilation

Ive binge watched all your videos starting from the very first one this one has to be by far the absolute best one you sold this tent so well from how you were setting it up with your funny jump ins to persevering with the weather blowing it around you never gave up 😊 ive been looking for a video setting this type of tent up but haven't been able to find one until your channel afyer some more research you can use your inner tent eith the bug screen on it in this tent too such a versatile pitch for any camping trip 😊

Thanks Vivian! Yes the front trunk is a bit unusual, but might as well use the space as there is no engine. Car is electric. Perfect contained spot for wet gear to go after a camp.

The problem with camping in forestry road lay-by's is that they have been compacted by a bulldozer, so the rain has trouble permeating away. It tends to pool first and gradually sink in, whereas on a grass camp site, the water should just goes to ground right away, leaving your inner tent dry.

Yes so true. And even though this area is not a forestry site, this particular spot is on a rocky river terrace which meant the water ran off and pooled a bit more than some of the surrounding area.

Hi Cathy. That is my sister’s name and I always recall when we went tent camping at Cade’s Cove in TN many years ago. We were surrounded by RV’s that had their engines running all night. There is roasts cabbage, chopped raw kale, red onion, mint, parsley, roasted butternut pumpkin, and sesame seeds, with adressing of hummus, pomegranate mollases, sumac, olive oil, lime juice and salt and pepper.

I have 1 question if I may. Do you not have to filter your water from the rivers you use?

Hi. Not usually. In National Parks there is usually nothing in the catchment above the rivers. No farmland, not livestock, no dwellings. So typically the water is fine to drink straight from the rivers then. Any time I am on lower terrain, like at this camp (where there is a road and ski field, not in the catchment, but very close), I would always boil. As a rule in NZ we say boil water before drinking, but that is not the case if you are up high or way out in the bush.

@@adventureotI prefer it when your voice is low Obviously want to hear it so shame about the mic but female New Zealand high pitch voices are difficult for me to listen to. I persevere because I like watching. Voice is definitely calming down the more confidence and the more vids you do and I really appreciate that. Plus cooking and showing eating nice food and really enjoying it the the other camping men tend to do. I’m sure it’s what gets them a lot of views 😅 Keep up the good work ❤❤❤
