40+ yrs ago I used to live in Holland and lived a couple of times in Den Helder right on the North Sea. I was on the top floor (3rd) of a row house at least a hundred yrs old (not such a grand view however nor window size). But when it rained (OFTEN!) it sounded just exactly like THIS! There was no double paned glass, and no attic, so when the rain hit the roof, it was just above your head. Just under the window was a little gas heater which vented directly outside, so between it and the thin glass, it had it's own unique sound. Very cozy... or... gezelig, as we would say. My new go-to YT for relaxing and quiet for sleeping. Dank je wel!

Thanks Chris, I did think about making this at a dock side, but started to realise just how much work it was I thought I’d come back to that haha But yeah I will come back to this era and do a dockside one, with steam horns and chugging boats going by, with distant sounds of Victorian machinery. This one is quite good. I love the Gothic Victorian vibe and smoke from chimneys. Sadly many ambience videos are historically inaccurate and that always annoys me. I saw a Jack the Ripper one with lightbulbs in street lamps and even a pink Barbie stiletto in the street. The worst was one claiming Sherlock Holme's office and it look more like film noir 1940s Maltese Falcon with Bogie. . It is nice to see artists striving for historical accuracy. . This is a lovely ambience for when I'm having tea and scones and reading.

I Use An insane amount of these, I Love this one. I am Playing it while in the background I have an Audiobook on to help me sleep and for the atmosphere, Right now I'm on the 5th book of Rivers of London so good it goes well with it. A rainy night in London and I'm inside my small but warm apartment a small living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom, I'm sitting next to the window staring out into the rainy night and the rain falling over the buildings, the nearly empty streets with an occasional carriage going by or a policeman patrolling the area but most are in their nice warm houses or apartments either reading or eating or are sleeping, I'm just sitting here drinking a cup of hot coffee, the moon is out and the clouds are floating past it covering it up and the rain hitting the roof and in a little while I'll be turning in for the night and will sleep and enjoy the warmth of my fireplace so God Bless and Good Night, Thank's.

@@arthurgoonie4596 You do realise that changes nothing they still didn't have our current skills or tools or modern day conveniences that we use to treat and preserve wood, to use pipes that don't poison you, to thermally insulate the home, to keep out the pests that often eat holes into wooden frames and destroy the innards of walls to nest, to fit windows that kept the chill away and the moisture, of fitting central heating and hot water and you have to factor in that it was often very cold in winter and warm in summer causing wooden constructions to shrink and expand. It's not as cut and dry as you make out.
