HEAVY RAIN! WE GOT CAUGHT IN AN ABSOLUTE DOWNPOUR!! CRAZY thunder! Hiking Raven Run Nature Sanctuary

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary is about a 30min drive southeast of Lexington, Kentucky. We hiked the red trail 2 different days because of a thunderstorm with heavy rain that caused us to cut our hike short the first day! It was a beautiful hike and although so close to Lexington, we didn't really encounter anyone while on the trail, which is always a plus :)

Definitely should have checked weather forecast again! We thought we had another two hours before is was supposed to start raining. Thankfully we were able to make it back to the trailhead safely! Have you ever done this before? Let us know!

That place is beautiful. Ha Ha on the forecast. Just remember you are in KY now and sometimes the weather forecast means absolutely nothing. lol. Trust me it will change in the blink of an eye regardless of what the weatherman says. lol

We got caught in a similar rain while on a hike in Alaska. At first it was all good, then it was cold, then when the rain stopped the mosquitoes came out! Good time.

Cold and rain is not a good combo! And mosquitoes on top of that is just piling on! I’d love to hike Alaska some day! I bet you have some amazing pictures!
