HEAVY WEAPONS GUY - SU-122 in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The SU-122 in War Thunder is a Rank 2 Russian Tank Destroyer that sits at 2.7 Battle Rating. This is the first Russian Vehicle in the game to get access to a 122mm Cannon.
The SU 122 is a bit of a derp tank, but don't let that goofy short barrel fool you. This thing lobs a terrifying HEAT shell at a decent velocity and it's so good it can one shot a Panther at 5.7 BR at any range.
The SU-122 is also based on the famous T-34 chassis so not only is it decently armoured, it's fast as well. Mobility is fantastic meaning it can scoot around the battlefield with relative ease and even keep up or overtake light tanks of the same BR and above!
The only thing that lets our derpy boy down is the long reload time and poor gun elevation. However, if angled correctly... you can survive a LOT of rounds during your reload and comfortably bait shots until you can get in to a position to return fire.

Funnily enough, the su-122 was the first TD I got a plane kill in. P-47 tried to head on me and caught a 122mm HEAT shell to the engine.

The number of shots you took reminded me of that Challenger 2 in Iraq in 2003. Ended up in a ditch immobilised for several hours. After they'd hauled it out they counted the hits - around 70 from RPGs and other weapons. All the crew survived tho YOU HAD TO SHOUT COS THEY WERE VERY DEAF...

For example, you frequently see the big numbers of 600+mm of penetration for the RPG 7 but people forget spaced, composite and reactive armour, what variant of the RPG is used. The RPG 7 itself is not a big danger to MBT's as much as the RPG 29 was (and still is).

Yo, Odd! Play the Charioteer, you'll love to hate it: 5 degrees of gun depression, no armor, no reverse, god awful suspension rocking and only 3 crew members. But hey, going forward its pretty fast and 20pdr can pen KT's front plate from 1km away destroying half of whats inside! Take Hornet as a plane: helluva fast to catch pesky 262s and run from anything else, 4 nose-mounted Hispanos, and to ground pound it can carry 2x500lbs + 4 AP/RP rockets. Both of those vehicles are often overlooked, Charioteer because it fades in the shadow of proper 6.7 tanks, and Hornet because its a twin engine fighter, both being somewhat more challenging to use than their more "mainstream" counterparts.

I have a gold crew on this, because back in the day this thing was a BEAST! HE was godly at taking out enemies back then... if you didn't one-shot kill them, you would have at least knocked out half the things on the enemy tank, so they usually couldn't do much anyway. Buuuut... then came the HE nerf and it was pretty much unplayable... Glad that it's back to at least being useful. Tried it out myself about a week ago. Had a lot of fun with it :)

OddBawz you should play the British 7.7 lineup the falcon,vickers mbt, centurion mk 10, and the Conqueror Mk 2 and the Sea hawk. OddBawz it is one of the most fun lineup because you have a stabilizer and everybody else doesn't please try it out.
