This is my most-played game-well over 100 plays - You definitely can start multiple buildings of the same material. The card from your hand is the foundation, the site card is just the site. Ending the game is one reason to do it, but the Gate is another-it wants you to start a lot of marble - The whole point of saying "Glory to Rome" is that you DON'T show your hand. Honor system - Technically the game can end in 5 ways. This is the only rulebook I know that explicitly says you win if the other players all surrender

Place it on top of a SITE card. The Structure is the entire pile. Page 12: You may not lay an Order card as a Foundation if either: 1. There is no Site of matching Material left. 2. You already have a Foundation or Structure of the same name in play. Therefore you could build start a Latrine (rubble site) AND a Bar (rubble Site). BUT could not start a 2nd Bar Glory to Rome counter +1

You got it all right. I think some of their mixup was referring to the site cards as foundations, the order card becomes a foundation which sits on a site and while a foundation is on a site it is a structure, right haha?

around 17:00 - I believe that materials used for building are "tucked" under the building for the rest of the game, they don't go to the Pool/Discard ;)

This is correct, Page 14 of the rules, Completing a Structure: "The Materials stay with the completed Structure"

I've only had the opportunity to play Glory to Rome once, but have played Mottainai a few times. To me, after watching this stream, it feels like Mottainai is Glory to Rome that works best with 2-3 and Glory to Rome plays 4-5 better. They are actually seem very similar in how they play, the actions do almost the same thing, but with Mottainai with the two wings to build stuff in and how those affect actions or points makes building decisions quite a bit different.

After learning to play and teach Mottanai I sadly figured out that it is a huge dud in my group due to something that feels like a mass of convoluted systems (tugging resources, helpers, gallery, actions, reusing actions from others, rules changes through built items). I am curious how the flow of this as its predecessor feels. I also wouldn't mind seeing a teach, play and maybe compare and contrast between Glory to Rome, Mottanai and other games in the genre (Fort comes to mind as a recent example).

Try his chaotic game Innovation, or a game that is a simpler introduction to the concepts is Food Truck Champion.

I think Innovation is a better design and plays more fluidly than Mottainai. Its also a great 2 player game but much too chaotic with 4.

I had not seen the black box before. How happy I am I have the other much better graphically cartoonish version. The art in the black box (for my taste) is horrible.

I finished the stream and bought an italian, cartoonish version for 14.90€... which is insanely cheap! Unfortunately contrary to you I prefer the neat graphic design of the black box version much, much more:)
