As a metalhead who is cursed with audiophilia, it's nice to see a company try to target our demographic. You have to scratch off any gear that is super detailed due to (mostly intentional) poor recording quality while also not being laid back and warm. Tight, fast, but impactful bass and somewhat forward presentation tends to be the sweet spot.

@@LaMereACaniche A good headphone will cover all genres and do them all well, But a speciality headphone will do a specific genre VERY well. The capability of sound and sound production are limited by the laws of physics, by that there are certain frequencies that are integral to metal/rock that a set of BEATS (for example.) wont be able to reproduce, and some frequencies in R&B that BEATS specialize in that others cant reach. Its like trying to clap while tying your shoe laces, and the reason we have "Tweeters" and "Woofers" separately for the lower end sound and higher end of sound respectively.

Just got my Heavys delivered today and I don’t want to take them off! I was worried at 1st because I had them on backwards (L/R) and was disappointed with the sound. Then I remembered about the two tweeter speakers facing 90* across your ear drum. Wow! Day and night difference once you have them on the correct ear! U can hear the different instrument layers and vocals with a deep, balanced bass! These are just as advertised and worth every penny! Far superior than Bose, Beats, JBL and Sony headphones!

What an absolute AMAZING review... and he KNOW's look at the hardware in the background, Audeze etc ... there's 2,3 and 4 K $ Headsets that he is familiar with and to give the due detail that he has, is commendable! This particular audiophile is highly intelligent in the way that he described the low to mid low cut off, I can tell that Axel Grell (not Alex lol but it's ok we all know who you mean) has taken the 'mud' are down a bit, this I always do with graphics but in the heavy's is not necessary as they are carefully shaped, in saying that, if you understand the sound signature, you can use these on the recording desk. So love this review thank you for the effort and unbiased eccentrics.

Just got mine today in the mail. I am going to say immediately these are the best headphones I have ever tried hands down. I bought Samsung buds 3 (not pro) about 45 days ago and they are straight ass compared to these. Before the buds I ordered Sony WH-CH720N and took one listen and returned them immediately. The lows are deep and the highs are very crisp. The equalizer isn't available yet but honestly I'm not even concerned they sound so good. My only critique would be they are heavy and bulky but honestly I would walk around with a trash can on my head all day in order to get this caliber of sound quality. $244 and worth every penny. I am not paid by heavys and have no other incentive other than my desire to share this wonderful piece of equipment with as many people as possible. This review might just have pushed me over the edge of actually ordering a pair, they´ve been on my radar for ages now but I kind of forgotten about them. A while back a lot of bands I'm following on Instagram started dropping their shells for them and that peaked my interest again. Which I guess shows that that particular feature or marketing gimmick, whatever you want to call it, works. I have some disposable money burning a hole in my pocket and I'm stuck between buying a pair of these or a new phone (which I don't really need yet)... I just ordered mine (I've never owned such expensive headphones 😅) and I'm super excited. Especially because of the collab with Ayreon which is one of my top 3-4 bands - they just look awesome. Metal and rock makes up for maybe 70% of what I listen to, but I wonder how 60s pop and psychedelic music will sound on these or synthpop. I discovered noice canceling feature for the first time 3 years ago (I know, late) through Airpods Pro, which for me (not an audiophile) a decent but not a wow sound but which are super comfortable and I looove their noice canceling though it seemed to be better upon purchase, either my ear got used to it or the effect somehow faded a bit. Have you ever checked out the noice canceling in Airpods 2 Pro? How does that feature compare to Heavys? What are the best noice canceling headphones that are not more than expensive than Heavys? Best: blocks our the most of the sound. I wonder what I will think. Most of the metal I listen to is not heavy on growl, it's more high vocals (power metal, heavy metal) and I read some comment that these are not the best for that.... mhhmm... I hope I'm not dissapointed.

@@TheHonestAudiophile I have only listened very shortly (they arrived TODAY and I'm at work atm) and a) I love the comfort, they're heavy but sit down and ery comfortably b) The overall sound is very very good but... my ear is NOT an audiophile ear, but I don't hear a massssive wow improvement compared to Airpods Pro 🙈. Maybe my hearing is not that good. So I was expecting like this amazing sound immersion, like I had a musician in front of me, like an almost 3D sound... and I don't hear that. Just very good quality music, better bass than on Airpods but I was even expecting HEAVIER bass and better forthcoming drum sound. Of course, I'm listening on Spotify which is not the best quality and wireless ... but in this environment, I don't hear a massssive improvement. However, I noticed that everytime I change the headphones I almost need to adjust to the new sound, it kind of evolves as I listen to it, if it makes any sense. Maybe it's just in my head. So I will have to get back to my completely unskilled and unprofessional 'review' later. Oh, ANC is way better on Airpods. But the sound is sooo good that turning it loud, I basically don't need the ANC. However for work situations, where it's not allowed to listen to music, they wouldn't be enough. But then again, for work I need in-ear headphones that are discrete anyway. I'm thinking of getting Bose QC II because of best ANC (so I've heard), I hope metal music sounds good in them.

Mine have muddy mids and severely muted highs. Hot garbage sound, which is really, really disappointing considering the bass is snappy and pretty much every other feature is great. Audio-wise, they compare disfavorably to my boring ol' HD 598CS that I've got plugged in to my PC. I'm really disappointed. If you like boomy stuff with no other noticeable characteristics, you'll enjoy yourself.

I hate to say it, but you have a point. The bass is punchy, but it's muffled and mushy. The high end gets lost. I listened to Tom Sawyer, and you have to concentrate to hear the hi-hat, which is integral to the feel of the song. In fact on everything, cymbals in general are in the background. Compared to a set of Shure SRH1540, they fall way short - although the Shure's could do with a bit more low end to be fair. Real shame, I had high hopes for these.
@mavrc Жыл бұрын
@@ljdsam I actually asked for (and received, to their credit) another set from support to see if it was something to do with my original pair, and nope, that's just the way they sound. They just sound closed-in and unresponsive by comparison to headphones half the price. Where the hell are all those extra drivers they have? Are they even working? The hands-down most frustrating part is that damn near everything else about them (construction, an interface with switches and knobs instead of touch controls, etc.) is near-as-makes-no-difference perfect. And the low end IS really fantastic. *sigh* Back to the drawing board. Maybe if they ever actually release their modification app, it'll be possible to make them useful.

@@mavrc I gather there may be an app, so if there's the option to mess with the EQ, there may be hope.

Unfortunately, I cancelled mine. I kept getting lies and no reviews for months. Almost a year of waiting and I gave up and got a refund. This is one of the few positive reviews I have seen, and all positive reviews seem to be from backers. The opposite opinions are coming from those that just did the pre order.
@TheHonestAudiophile Жыл бұрын
I was an original backer and endured all the same delays and it was so frustrating. I'm glad I waited as it has pleased me. I don't think HEAVYS sent out review units to reviewers as of yet, they were fulfilling the backers and preorders first. That could be the reason for the lack of reviews but I could be wrong. Anyway, sorry you were disappointed. Hope you get a chance to hear them and possibly pick them up later.

I bought these under the impression they would be heavy, turns out heavy metal means no bass... like for real they have almost no bass

Honestly they are way over hyped. They sound like garbage out of the box and even after buying wavelet and messing around with the settings they sound decent. Nowhere near as clear as headphones costing half the price.

If you are a metalhead looking for pair of headphones - keep looking! H1H is not for you. They are not tuned for metal, unless [insert any boy band name here] is what you consider to be metal.
@TheHonestAudiophile Жыл бұрын
I totally disagree. I tested this headphone with metal bands and boy bands and it sounded good with majority of them. If the tracks are not mastered well, like a lot of metal music, then it will sound bad. Thanks for watching and commenting.
