I remember watching old Nostalgia Critic and the movies. I actually sat all the way through "To Boldly Flee". I just left it on on my second monitor while I played Gmod. It ends with a meta conversation between the real Doug Walker and the Critic. Doug talks about how he wants to retire him and that he's run out of ideas with NC and it seems to imply that because NC is leaving ALLLLL the other members of the site are going away too. It was weird.

It’s really funny in a sad pathetic way how like With that whole channel awesome document there were a handful of people that had really legitimate complaints about what went on, meanwhile Linkara (who got a career handed to him on a silver platter) used the whole thing as another vehicle to play into his delusion that he and his shitty show are somehow morally and creatively superior to Doug, when really he was always the same level of shit, if not worse. Except Doug has some semblance of self awareness, that’s something I can’t say for Lewis.

Yeah I do feel like it’s kinda telling that soon after the document came out and everybody left CA Lewis made an audio drama starring all the former CA critics made as a big “fuck you Doug, this is how you could have done the anniversary specials” statement where literally towards the end Linkara makes a big speech about how all of them were “betrayed” by an unnamed former friend and colleague. I still like Linkara but I do feel like he’s lost a lot of his appeal in the past few years

I liked that part of his "fuck you" (or maybe it was EROD/Blockbuster Buster's) was like "see, you DO need a craft services table and this is ours!" which is totally fine, but it was like 5 party-sized bags of Doritos and some water and soda. Like I appreciate that they did have a table, but it looked more like the sad classroom party you'd have in 3rd grade at the end of the year than the food provided for a movie shoot. Having watched him for a few years I’d say he seems more like he’s just bitter and grouchy for unknown reasons. The guy’s response to leaving Channel Awesome was to get the ex-CA critics together for an audio drama that essentially acted as an FU to Doug, and whilst I did enjoy said audio drama I do feel like it came from a place of bitterness. Same can be said for when he called out Brad Jones in the opening of a video for no reason by playing into a running gag he’d do where whenever Cinema Snob appeared in his videos he’d ask him to review a comic based on Caligula and having him open a video saying he was gonna finally review it only to get a call telling him Brad said something against the ex-CA critics and abandoning the review. Linkara seems to be the only former CA critic who hasn’t let it the hell go if you ask me. All the other critics rarely reference their time on CA or in the case of Lindsey Ellis and Tony Gokdmark have completely rebranded themselves. The only other critic I know of who referenced it even once recently was Tony Goldmark where he begrudgingly talked about it on the Country Bears episode of his podcast and in his case it kinda had to be done as he was celebrating the 10 year anniversary of his first review and it kinda had to be brought up in the look back of his career

They covered up JewWario’s sexual misconduct, made the critics fly over to different parts of the world to film the anniversary movies with no pay, apparently when one of the critics got injuries on Suburban Knights Doug forced them all to sign an injury waver so they couldn’t get sued for not making sure the set was safe and a lot of other shit apparently happened

Having watched these videos so many times now, I actually think Chris comes off as really supportive of Doug as a creator. Even if the material isn’t good, so long as effort was put in, Chris always seems willing to appreciate the work Doug puts into his videos. To me it definitely feels like Chris really does enjoy Doug’s videos, ironically or not, and has gotten years of entertainment from them. If I was Doug, even if I got clowned and criticized all the time, I would be happy knowing that I was able to genuinely entertain people for so many years.
