Last Fall, my wife and I were attending an Old Testament Bible class. I was hit with a strong desire to learn how to pronounce Old Testament Bible names. After searching the internet, Aleph with Beth seemed exactly the way to accomplish this. On December 26, 2020, I started watching Aleph with Beth and haven't been in the least disappointed. Of course, I've learned far more than pronunciation. Thanks again for these awesome lessons!

Great video - the only reason I can see this is because of you both - God in the vayyiqtol builds a women not makes/forms- in v22 - this is awesome if you follow bnh through - side of a building/tent vs ribs. Understand why you did not use bnh - we have not learned yet. But still fantastic teaching!

At the start of the video, it should be something like "אתה זוכר... אני זוכר" or at least, that how it works in Modern Hebrew. Avram "currently" remembers, not that he remembered.

That's how it works in Modern Hebrew, but not in Biblical Hebrew ;)

It is useful to remember that in Biblical Hebrew, though a participle is sometimes used to convey a present tense, for stative verbs the qatal is far more common. In English, we also do not generally use the participle (present continuous) for stative verbs, though we sometimes do. Actually, in BH it is also sometimes used כִּי יֹודֵעַ כָּל־שַׁעַר עַמִּי כִּי אֵשֶׁת חַיִל אָתְּ (Ruth 3: 11) but more often it is the qatal הִנֵּה־נָא יָדַעְתִּי כִּי אִשָּׁה יְפַת־מַרְאֶה אָתְּ׃ (Genesis 12: 11) I have not found the word זָכַר to ever use the participle for the present, but often the qatal. This is per what I have been taught in my BH class; I am still just learning. Thank you so much Beth and Andrew for these lessons. They have really been helping me to internalize the language.

It's like "interior" or "inner part" of the trunk of the body. There's no exact translation in English.
