I loved watching classic cartoons like Heckle & Jeckle, plus Woody Woodpecker and many more! They need to put these cartoons back on TV soon!

Sid Raymond, who normally provided voices for Paramount's Famous Studios (as Wolfie, Baby Huey, Katnip, and other funny animals) provided the voices here {his "Dimwit" sounds similar to his "Katnip" voice}. Dayton Allen usually did the primary voices, but apparently wasn't available for this cartoon...

Those crazy magpies are Terrytoons' answer to: - Bugs Bunny - Daffy Duck ( crazy version, not the later version ) - Bob Clampett's version of Tweety - Yoyo Dodo - Screwy Squirrel - Woody Woodpecker - Aracuan Bird - Chip 'n' Dale - Yakko, Wakko and Dot - Slappy Squirrel ( for their karmic trickster traits ) - Droopy ( same reason as Slappy Squirrel ) and AOSTH's version of Sonic ( same reason as Slappy Squirrel and Droopy ).

First released in February 1947; directed by Connie Rasinski, story by John Foster, music by Philip A. Scheib. Sid Raymond, who usually provided voices for Paramount' "Famous Studios" theatrical cartoons at the time, are the magpies' voices (and Dimwit the dog's) here.

I watched these guys as a child but they were newer ones. Funny, I didn't find out until I was an adult that magpies look nothing like that. :)

TerryToons wes the reason I got up on Saturday before the Farm Report ended. And yet I couldn't explain the difference between inane physical comedy and the British wit. I think it's American Exceptionism. Small bus, still funny. .

Yes, 'nairb', during the period Ed "Archie" Gardner taped "DUFFY'S TAVERN" in Puerto Rico (1949-'51) {primarily for tax purposes}; apparently, Charles Cantor couldn't make the move with the cast, so Ed got Sid to replace him [they both used similar "dumb" voices, so listeners hardly knew the difference].

Didn't Sid Raymond play the role of Finnegan in the radio comedy DUFFY'S TAVERN.
