Most police officers I have met are wonderful human beings who take their job and being held to a higher standard as an honor. It's an incredibly stressful and dangerous job and if you can't do it properly, then find another profession...please!!!!!!

Napoleon Bonaparte police officers are held at a higher standard than everyone else. We give them a gun and power over people so they may serve and protect us and help us keep our communities safe. Saying that a police officer is "just a human like all of us" as an excuse to validate an officer being a complete douche bag doesn't quite work out well for you. Police officers are supposed to keep the peace and behave professionally both inside and outside the job. Why the fuck do people keep defending shitty behavior from police officers? everyone makes mistakes, but this wasn't a mistake. this officer was a flat out douche bag and if you're defending him I bet you're not much different than him.

Not really. Ever heard of a little thing called civil asset forfeiture? Cops are out there stealing every day, and as it turns out, they do it at a higher rate than the private sector of criminals. There is also the little fact that without the constant underlying threat of theft, extortion, kidnapping, imprisionment, torture and murder - there would be no funding source for police. Little fact, there has never been a volutary tax system. It is always forced by threat of aggression. And guess who applies that aggression and profits from it? Police.

An Australian comedian(Rodney Rude) back in the 80's would deliberately make cop jokes when there were Police present. After one particular show, they arrested him and when the Prosecution read out the offensive joke about cops, the Magistrate was clearly trying not to laugh and dismissed the charge.

"Any coppers in here tonight? ... you gotta watch out, sometimes they sneak in with the humans." Rodney Rude. Fun fact, the pig who arrested Rude in Queensland for obscenity was jailed for corruption a couple of years later in an unrelated matter during the Fitzgerald Inquiry. You can safely assume any cop who can't take a joke about bad cops is always going to be the one who's bent as a dog's back leg. Anyway we all know how it works, the only way to progress in any police force is to participate in corruption. Those above you then know they have something on you. If you show you have principles and are the kind of honest, straight down the line person the police like to pretend they are, you're out. One way or another. You know why cops eventually get that attitude where they assume everyone's guilty of something? They''re projecting. They think we all turned out like them.

@Wulver4268 жыл бұрын
justin jones That's exactly right but he also said the good ones need to speak up more. From what I've seen there seems to be a code in which even if a cop is doing something wrong other cops keep their mouth shut. There's a saying "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" and at the moment the good cops aren't doing anything to push the bad ones out, because it seems many of them are afraid of being ostracized for it. Every country has issues with their police force, it's unavoidable. Your issues just seem to be greatly increased by lack of training, lack of punishment, lack of psych evaluations and whatever else is going on over there. For instance to be a cop in the UK it takes around 2+ years because it's not just training, you learn qualifications and there's a lot of other hoops to jump through. Like my friends sister has been working as a PCSO (a cop with very little authority) for a year as part of her training experience. The standard length of training in the US is like 21 weeks before they are allowed to patrol with a gun. Most other countries train their officers to use lethal force when no other option is possible. Your cops instinctively reach for their guns. Go to /watch?v=O0f_nFKVoyQ&t=510s and skip to 3:12 and watch the differences between what British cops do vs US cops against someone with a knife. If a man has a knife you do not need to shoot them straight away. Even countries like Russia where people carry guns in their cars and guns are very easy to come by, Russia doesn't have anywhere near as many police killings as the US. Watch /watch?v=6mmwcpi0Dzk and just look at the attitudes of the people your country hires to protect you.

There's no excuse for good cops ignoring the actions of bad ones. I'm sorry, but to do otherwise is to just become a fascist institution. Cops do good work, and it's hard work, especially in America, but that doesn't give cops a free ride to act how they choose, and if you have that kind of temperament? You shouldn't be a cop. I can totally understand cops supporting cops, but in the face of blatant unnecessary violence, good cops have a duty of care to report it and be willing to go all the way to defend their stance. It's the old adage; "there are two types of evil, those who do evil deeds, and those who do nothing to stop it". If I was a cop? I wouldn't want the shitty, power hungry cops sullying my name just because they need to get off on a power trip. I'd fight tooth-and-nail to rid my force of these cretins.

A 29Yr old K-9 Cop died in Detroit recently. Everybody in the Detroit area liked this guy. I remember telling my friend, when a cop dies, I want to be moved to tears and feel terrible that such a good person who supports and defends us died. Because we hear stories of bad cops, those that shoot unarmed men, Cops that steal etc. It really hurts the good cops. Just 1 or a few bad cops DOES spoil the entire force. These good cops need to weed out the bad cops. I don't know why they stick up for each other.

@RetroMaticGamer6 жыл бұрын
Probably one of the biggest problems with shitty cops are the “us vs. them” attitude they convey towards the citizens they’re supposed to serve and protect, including you here. Good cops do not do this; good cops admit that there are bad cops, don’t make excuses for them, and go out of their way to prove they’re NOT those bad cops. Bad cops just get butthurt the same as any other bully when you bring into question that they are not as all-powerful as they want to be, hence the nasty reactions. You hurt them most by being right and by taking away the one weapon they have left - intimidation.
@benstephens346 жыл бұрын
That's exactly why my dad always taught me to stand up to my bullies. I did, and made friends with them. Guess what? They left me alone after that. And there was no bloodshed, surprisingly. Everyone thinks "well if you stand up to a bully, then you're not better than they are." Actually, yes you are. They thrive on fear. They like it. If you show you're not afraid, they get pissed and retaliate because they see they're losing control in that situation, and it's a desperate attempt to get it back. So if you have a bully, my question is this: how much will you take on the backside? How long will you take the abuse and the taunting and let it crumble your soul? Fight back! There are really only two outcomes I see: either fight back and show them you're not afraid, or take it on the chin until you're driven to suicide. Best friend's niece attempted suicide due to an online bully. Bully wasn't in even the room with her! Niece could've walked away and let the bully lose interest, but the bully had already gotten in her head. Thankfully she survived the attempt. STAND UP TO YOUR BULLY.

@macdhomhnaill77215 жыл бұрын
Charles Weaver I’m not one of those cop-haters, I look at things by situation to situation... but to be fair, it’s really hard for most civilians to get over a “us vs them” mindset when you know if you make one wrong move or something is interpreted wrong, then this person is gonna lose their cool and empty an entire magazine into you. A lot of cops are just guys with too little training, and too much power, and that causes problems.
