The prince killed the season by selling key players at the start of the season, then threw hecky under the bus - happy days...

Interesting stuff. Its kind of strange that Hecky is bang on with what he says, and clearly recognised where the problems were. Yet he's the one who has to motivate and lift players, yet couldn't find it. Every loss, be it by one goal or a mauling, we just sank further and further into the season with players that were beaten. Having just watched Luton vs City in FA Cup, that's the real and only difference, they don't collapse, they don't know when they're beat. As for Brentford and Brighton, yes its the better, more structured way to win promotion and have a chance at survival. But lets not forget they both had time building a squad, an identity, and both had unsuccessful play off campaigns but retained the main core of the squad before reaching the Premier League. The way United did it in 2019 was completely unexpected, and not really something we were prepared for. But you have to take the opportunity and give it a shot. Where we need to get things right in our immediate future, is to build and retain a stronger squad. This cycle has been tough, and transfer restrictions left us unable to build a squad stronger than the previous. We knew the loss of Iliman was coming, and not much could be done about that. Hecky got the very last out of the Wilder old guard, and a relatively poor Championship meant we made it out. Now that time is at an end, but it finishes in an albeit very tough season in the top flight, so its not all bad having another round of parachute money.
