Thanks.... do you mean the same patterns, with different sized hooks? Or new patterns with different sized hooks? I am partial to the large hooks and needles, because they work up so quickly, and as a designer, time is of great importance to me.

So pretty. Is it the amount of rows that you crochet what determines the coverage you get on the front or the amount of chains in the beginning chain? Because I like it to close on the front not to just hug my shoulders.

Hmmm...yes somewhat... this style does not give a lot of coverage in the front, but to do that, you could add a few rows just in the front. (After the shrug is totally finished.)

You do not show the front of this shrug. Does it look like the lacy knitted summer shrug that you show a picture of? If it is more open than that one , then how can I close it more?

Hi Esther! To close it more, after it is all completed, you will need to crochet a "band" around, which will also add a band around the back. If you don't want a band around the back, you could attach the yarn where the seam is for the armholes, and do a row of double crochet around to the opposite seam, then chain 2 and turn, double crochet back to the opposite side. Do that for as many rows as you need for coverage.

Yes, you could add them directly to the finished vest, or work rectangles and slip stitch to attach them to the vest.

You would need to work additional rows in the front. Attach yarn around the collarbone area, then work down to the waist, turn, work several rows. (As many as you need for your desired coverage.) Then do the same on the opposite side.

You would need to begin with a longer foundation chain (because this design is worked sideways)...but that would also add more "billowing" to the sleeves.

To make it longer, start with a longer foundation chain. (In multiples of 3, as it takes 3 stitches to form a loop in the foundation row). It's quite roomy, so one size will fit multiple sizes. Start working the shrug, place it under your chin, see how long it is... if it's not long enough, start over and add more to the foundation chain. Then keep working row after row until the rectangle reaches at least from elbow to elbow, or for a more roomy shrug, from wrist to wrist.
