It's really cool to see them improve on this design, because the technology is so strong that it REALLY deserves a second chance. I hope this time it really takes off, and I'm glad Headphones is heavily promoting it to help that happen. Planars need a competitor like AMT.

planars are low distortion and easily available, full range amt (see heddphone v1) was not low distortion and also overpriced as hell... planars have a good competitir alread in dynamic drivers, which are usually cheaper

@@leviathan5207overpriced as hell? Not low on distortion? I tested so many headphones and soundwise the HeddPhone V1 is one of the best I ever tested. The Arya Stealth was sooooo boring sounding, had a very cheap build quality and had the same price tag as the HeddPhone. The only issue was the weight. If you drive the HeddPhone with plenty of power, they sound absolutely astonishing. ❤

What made me smile is that its clear that this hedd v2 is a solution you get when you let a bunch of engineers to sort out a problem. Not a bunch of marketers and trend chasers. I need to get one Edit: 4:18 i see that thin red line! Finally no guess work lol 5:40 did the v2 lose the height that was evident in the v1 to its soundstage? And i think you’re right abt the spacing created by the pads cause I remember during a livestream with the hedd team on the v1 where they said they needed to make the h1’s pad thicc to achieve the soundstage they wanted.

I had the opportunity to demoing the HEDD 2 at home and I have to say that they have a very strong point: for those who love to listen at low volumes (yes, I'm one of them), they really have all the technical advatages of electrostas, with a tuning that's simply outstanding. Increasing volume isn't my cup of tea and doesn't seem the best for HEDD 2. Great headphones. I only whish they had larger ear pads: as you pointed out, the vocalist/instrument recorded in front of you is really in front of you. Gotta try to mod some ear pads. Thank you for sharing man

I primarily listen to vocals and from this review I’m not going to buy until I hear them. I don’t like vocals right in front of me. I prefer headphones that project the vocal image way out in front of me similar to what speakers do. Based on this review, they don’t do that.

I think I’ve found my upgrade path from my Arya Stealth, haha! When you compared the HEDDphone 2 to the Arya Stealth and said the Arya almost sounded compressed and less detailed, I just went, ‘Whaa?’ I find my Aryas to sound extremely clear and natural. So, seeing someone practically shit on them in comparison to something else is hella special - in a good way, of course. I also tend to like a slightly treble-lacking tuning as I am quite treble-sensitive. I find many headphones to be quite shouty; even my Arya Stealth. I can’t turn up the volume very far because it starts to get sibilant and shouty.

The AMT was originally invented by American/German Physicist Oskar Heil, and then modernized (smaller, more reliable) by HEDD Founder Klaus Heinz. For the longest time, AMTs were used in Klaus' tweeter designs (playing from around 2500Hz to 50kHz), when we launched HEDD in 2015 we kicked of a new development phase in which we were able to design the first true full-range AMT.

No, its not. He said it was a appreciable improvement over the ayra, and the ayra is appreciable improvement over a 109 or xs. Its appropriately priced.

Honestly I imagined they faced an impasse with the original HEDDphone. They cheaped out so hard on its ergonomics that clearly sacrifices would need to be made somewhere. Maybe the price wasn’t SUCH a bad give, hard to say.

@@enjoshi-godrez8775 you do know that the ayra is priced at $750... even the ayra organic is only $1300.... you can get the HE1000 for the same price as the HEDD2...

@@enjoshi-godrez8775 prices on the net are all over the place... I just looked up the ayra on the hifiman site store... $999 ... half the price of HEDD2... are they match for performance... I don't know... but if so it just points out the HEDD2 is a bit high in price... I'd like to see other $2k phones compared to the HEDD2, thats the point

I dislike the original since everything sounded airy and easy. There was technicality, but in even less enjoyable way than basic electrostatic headphones. Can these do bass weight even with EQ? Not just tactility, but deep heavy EDM bass.

Can you please explain why Josh says these are not detailed AT ALL let alone at estat levels, and is essentially not only not worth the money but can find no reason for it to exist considering the alternatives. I appreciate this is a subjective hobby but his review is sooo far removed from your assessment that im doubting your review as being unbiased considering you are now selling them and had a visit to thier factory and a free givaway....just call me a cynic by nature but something isnt sitting right with these so some clarity would be appreciated.

I can speak to this a bit I think, because I can see why you'd wonder about it. We sponsored Josh's video and sent him the product but we did not ask him to say anything other than his honest opinion. Reviewers can say whatever they want and the same is true for the reviewers on our team - and I'd go one step further, reviewers are morally obligated to state the truth to the best of their abilities. But the reality is that people like different sound signatures. To give an example, Josh quite liked the Arya Organic while I found it to be nothing special and mostly just too bright, and I indicated as much in my review. I expect that probably killed the hype a bit, but that's how I felt about it and I've only ever been encouraged to speak my mind in reviews. The same goes for Golden and he's liked this product ever since he first heard it at CanJam London. Naturally he was excited to do the review. Personally, while I don't quite agree with Josh's take, I'm also less enthusiastic about the sound than Golden was here since I think the HEDDphone V1 had a better tonal balance for upper mids and treble. I've noted this elsewhere but basically my impressions line up almost exactly with those from Fc-Construct, and I encourage you to check out that review as well. With regards to HEDD Audio, these guys are some of the most passionate and awesome people in this industry, and I didn't officially review this product because I felt that would've been a bit weird given that I also wanted to talk to them about it in a live stream. When it comes to developing a full range AMT headphone, what HEDD is doing here is super unique and I wanted to chat with Dmitry and Freddy about it. As for who you should trust, if you watch some of our other reviews - even some recent ones like the Raven review - you'll find we don't exactly pull any punches. I'd also encourage you to watch the video DMS did with our boss Andrew to understand why our company is built upon trust and why that's so important for our long term vision. But in addition, my advice is to get your information from more than one source. First, make sure you understand what's going on with the measurements and what kind of sound signature you like because that removes much of the uncertainty around products. But then get impressions from more than just one person, because what one reviewer likes might not be what you like.

Thanks so much for the honest reply. I can perfectly understand that people will have different views as to tuning, timbre etc but Goldens claim of estat levels of detail is quite a claim and for Josh to say it wasn't that detailed is still odd as it's not about tuning...I mean details are either there or they're not so you can see why a red flag went up. I pre-ordered on the basis of Goldens detail claim (as I'm a huge estat fan and have owned them for 20+ years) Ok so Caveat Emptor mea culpa but you must know that people will buy on the basis of reviews and can't always get a demo. I guess I will find out who to trust once I've heard them. Anyways, thanks again for the detailed reply...goes some way to winning my trust back.

@@barneyrubble9309 Yeah make sure you get it from somewhere you can return it. And that's not to say you should necessarily get it from us, get it from wherever is convenient for you, but also make sure there's a return policy. Additionally, I just wanted to note your comment about detail. Unfortunately its not at all clear what people mean by this, and oftentimes they can mean very different things. Josh actually touched on this as well in his video, that when you have a darker frequency response like what HEDD2 has, some may equate that to lack of detail. But for others, that's not at all what they mean when they're describing detail. That's why I say make sure you know what kind of tonal balance you like, if you like a warmer tuning profile then you might be into this, but if you like a brighter tuning then I suggest you look elsewhere. Also, definitely read Fc-Construct's review since it also somewhat goes into this, and gives a fair perspective on the pros/cons.
