We are currently feeding at least 3 hedgehogs every night. At times all three are eating together. We provide fresh water every day and shelter if they want it. One of them had quite obvious ticks so have been learning about removing them. Last night we removed three whole ones so a great start. Some people say be careful that the fleas don’t jump but some posts say hedgehog fleas will only live on hedgehogs so a little confused. We’ve ordered some flea insecticide for small animals. We feel so privileged that they visit us!

I am so lucky, I live in a beautiful North Wales village and we have hedgehogs and just a few weeks ago a noticed that I have two hedgehogs living in my hedge too! I was and am so excited. So I have food (proper hog food) and have bought a house just in case they need a home. It's so great to know they are around.

The last time I saw a hedgehog in the wild was years and years ago in a park. It had made its home inside a big pile of sticks, which of course it had no way of knowing were destined to be a bonfire. Luckily we managed to coax it away and it toddled off into the bushes. Such a lovely creature!

Unbelievable last week, saw hedgehog on front lawn, daytime, and sunny knew it was in trouble,as should not be out in daytime, daughter gaynor picked it up in towel, and took it to back garden in shade,I got to saucers, put some dog food in one, water on other, after a few minutes it uncirled, ate some food had a good drink of water, and went along side of garden shed where their were lots of dried leaves, such an amazing feeling to firstly see one,and then to send him on his way xxxxxxx with a full belly 😍👍

I last saw a hedgehog in October 2016. I like the name for young hedgehogs, "hoglets".

I haven't seen a wild one in ages so it was quite a treat to see so many at the hospital (although sad at the same time). You can't help falling in love with them!

Such a shame how the population has dropped so far, as a kid I would see them so often, we could even hand feed one in our garden. My kids have only ever seen a dead one and its been about 15 years since I last saw one (alive).

Ian Phillips it is sad.. They were a huge part of my childhood and a great animal for sparking curiosity about the natural world and championing conservation. Everybody loves a hog! Weirdly (and morbidly) the more hedgehogs you see dead by the side of the road the healthier the population.

Good informative vid. thanks. But why the bit about children not seeing hogs in the wild? This is not just now, as they are shy and nocturnal. Even when I was growing up in the 60s I only ever saw them dead on the road. I wasn't allowed out after dark! Hedgehogs are WILD and should stay that way, with lots of assistance from us if we are sharing their environment!
