Coz of terrible Back Pain I suffered,
I changed to Heel Toe user and stop using Swivel.
the differences between these two techniques
for me I think, Heel Toe save your energy..
I am firstly Swivel Guy, you will know if
you watch my old 2019 videos in my Channel.
At first, Heel Toe is difficult to understand how to do Double Strokes.
Be patient, start from 170 BPM ( 85 BPM 32th notes )
Even I cannot understand until 2019 (
suffering terrible back pain and can't Swivel no more )
So be patient and find the way yourself " how to do Double Strokes ".
There are several motions how to do Heel Toe
I learned this Hee Toe technique from the videos of Francesco Paoli, Thomas Cremier and Jayson Wydau.
Thanks to them for their useful videos.

Sounds really great, but this is the drawback of heel-toe: it depends like 50% on the tightness of the drum head. I have only practice pads and they don't have this crazy rebound, so it is way more difficult to achieve high speeds on them

yeah, and no volume, or dynamics really. Good for one thing only. Plus all the muffling.. yuck. But still better than triggers.

yeah. Heel Toe Depend on tightness of Skin, coz it needs powerful second strokes for long Double Bass Bars. but you can practice Heel Toe on washing foam practice pad, at night I always practice like that for 90% silence practicing ( Marthyn Joaovic uploaded a video about practicing on Washing Foam Bass Drum Practice pad )

Yeah, it offers no opportunity to mix-in natural mic'ing to combine with trigger samples.
@Killenmachine05
@Killenmachine05 2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelcm9283 this is honestly also a huge part of where triggering comes into play, tune your batter heads for the tension you need, then use a kick sample to get the sound you want.

Just depends on how you move your feet. This 'heel toe" method in this video looks more like pressure-bouncing, or drags. I'd have to see it start at like 80bpm 16th notes and work it's way up. I do heeltoe with a full -actual- heel stomp and toe roll-off and it's pretty damn loud, because the beaters are heavy as well (tama iron cobra). I could use lighter beaters, adjust the beater angle some, and get everything all close in - tighten the fuck out of hte bassdrum head, and then pressure-bounce the beater twice, but then (like in this thread describes) you have to use a trigger. if I were truly just going to do drags & trigger stuff, I'd use one of those huge alesis mesh-head elec bassdrums cuz that's like throwing a bowling ball into a trampoline

This is the best video I have seen on heel-toe. Nice job teaching and playing! 👍 I know a lot of double-kick drummers are using longboard pedals now, but they are a bit hard to get used to for me. Pedal thoughts?
@michaelcm9283
@michaelcm9283 2 жыл бұрын
nope. you can do Swivel or Heel Toe with Short Boart Pedals. I seen a lot of guys doing fast double Strokes with Short Board Pedals ( Axis Shortboard, Pearl Shortboard or whatever $50, $100 Double pedal ) you only need to do suitable pedal setting and daily practice routime to catch your goal.

I too suffered from massive back pain on a fixed drum throne. Gotta get gas shock drum throne. You spend three days on fixed drum stool and you can hardly walk when it's over. Get a "Roc-n-Soc" , they ain't cheap but it'll save you tons of trouble. Smooth playing bruh🤙

Start from 180 bpm I practiced 180 bpm 1 week long. Then jump to 182, 184 etc. How to practice Firstly I try Heel Toe 1 bar long at selected BPM Then 2 bars, then 4,8,16,32 bars etc. .. Your pedal setting must be ( almost maximum spring tension ) Footboard must be high than normal These two are essential And you need to sit higher.
