Villages or Towns are often the places where adventure begins and ends. They play such an important role all over Fantasy that I got curious to explore the scenario in my next project. The making of Hegelburg took me on a journey of more than a year. The complexity of making a small, yet living town proved being quite intimidating, and there were honestly moments when I feared I’d never be able to bring it to an acceptable end. I kept going however, dug deeper into Unreal Engine and brought the software (and my hardware!) to its limits. And eventually, after thousands of placed assets, hundreds of hours of work, dozens of crashes and quite a bunch of render passes of 40 hours each, I’m glad to present you the world of Hegelburg, the solitair city in the East. And while I already have ideas for a follow up project, I’m pretty certain I will come back to this map to show a new angle of it ;-) All models, NPC’s and animations are from the UE4 marketplace, but most of the textures were modified for more photorealistic results. For the music, you may know a couple of the tracks already as being released prior to this video. Still there are more than 30 minutes of previously unpublished tracks included. Thank you for stopping by and watching. If you like what I do, you can support me on Bandcamp and Patreon (links in the description), or just spread the word and share the video in your community. It all helps a lot! Cheers! ASKII

Fantastic. This has swiftly become my favorite ambient soundtrack. I listen to it daily and find myself more drawn to Hegelburg after each listen. It's easy to listen to and really calms the mind, makes one dream. Also it keep things fresh with its very fitting and diverse tunes. Interesting, didn't notice in three years. But I had a closer look: The beginning of the sequence aligns for a few notes, but I'm certain it's not enough to make a case out of it. There are only so many ways you can arrange a melody, so whatever you compose, you'll always sound closely similar to something that already exists. Apart from the few notes aligning, too much is entirely different. Thanks for the heads up, though!

I can hear the elder scrolls influence in your heart in this mix ^_^

I played this game so much that it's hard not to have the influence in my music :D

It's very easy to get lost in this video. The music and the town complement each other. Have you worked with UE5?
@askiimusic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Up to know I have worked with UE4 only, but I'm very excited to get my hands on UE5!

47:00 How did you create these chants? I guess it must be sampled. I do wonder if it's possible to create such chants digitally.
@askiimusic2 жыл бұрын
It is sampled, but playable through scripting. The library is 8dio Insolidus

Most of this one is a little low-key for my taste, but I really love the track with the birdsongs in it.

Intrigued by the depth? There's a book I'd suggest that plumbs similar depths. "Galaxies United" by Olivia Whitestone

Any chance of a repress of the cassette release? Or better yet, a 3 tape box of the trilogy!
@askiimusic3 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid there won't be more of the main "Hegelburg" tapes. There are still tapes available for "Hegelburg at Night", though, check out Dungeons Deep Records' Bandcamp for more info :) There are also some chances that we make a 3 CD Hegelburg Digipak happen. Can't promise things yet, but I'll share updates as soon as we progress with it!

ASKII hey, what are your next ambience fantasy 1 hour ? for this year 2020
@askiimusic4 жыл бұрын
Next up is "Hegelburg at Night", coming around September. Not quite 1 hour, but moving camera and the full experience. After that I want to focus on overworld exploration. There are several scenarios I would like to cover in distinct projects with own albums and visuals, still trying to figure out how to approach it exactly. Most likely it won't happen in 2020, though. We'll see ;-)

Glad you like it! It's a scene I built in Unreal Engine to have footage to score music to.

Does the name of the town have anything to do with GWF Hegel? Or is it just a coincidence?
@askiimusic3 жыл бұрын
That's coincidence. The backstory about the name Hegelburg is that it is actually a misheard word from the lyrics of a Corvus Corax track, "Sverker" I think. They sing something else entirely, but I thought it would fit to that project as it wasn't associated with anything, neither a real place nor fiction. When searching I noticed that Hegel is a nobility family name, but Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel I just discovered now :)

Native: "So, this is the town I live in. What do you think of it?" Me: "I think it is made of a lot of thatch and wood." Native: "Yes. That is a good thing isn't it? Renewable material." Me: "But don't you know?" Native: "Yes? What do I possibly know?" Me: "Buildings made of thatch and wood attract...." Native: "Yes? What do they attract?" Me: "Red dragons!" Native: "Oh no! We can't let those big flying bullies come over here. What do we do?" Me: "Not to worry! In a single day I can get you enough good quality stone to upgrade. For a price." Native: "Thank you good sir! Thank you!"
