Who could make heian shodan look more real and more interesting? It is the very last kata I would choose to perform in public. People like to say he lacks technical precision but in reality he did not. He understood what technique is. Plus he was at least 70 years old here. I have seen a lot of high ranked 70 year olds and none moved like this.

Tetsuhiko Asai , in my opinion , was the most talented Karateka in history ... He had his own style and I never saw movements like his at no other grand master

These kata video (And thanks very much for posting them Flatsand) are really inspiring for me. As a student who's trying to become more loose in my karate I can really dig Master Asai's style. He may not lack the technical precision of Sensei Osaka (who does?) but each move just works. He was very elastic in his movements which contradicts the general style of Shotokan. I suppose that's why he developed his own off-shoot style. But it's a personal thing.
