I ran one of these in mid 90's for printing and die-cutting. Also, ran a Heidelberg Cylinder press for die-cutting. However I was around them since late 80's. I love these presses and love the sounds of the letterpresses

Longest run on this press, overprinting 12 million margerine wrappers. ( wrong ingredients) I started my 6 year Apprenticeship in 1955 ,in UK. Ended up a Newspaper pressman for Rupert Murdoch in Australia, sad to see the almost death of Letterpress. I'm 80 years old and have good memories of the printing trade. HI from Australia. 😎✌

John, I started my apprenticeship in 1979 on a Monotype keyboard and caster but part of my apprenticeship was to print the job I'd set, cast and composed on such a Heidelberg. Incredible to look back on now since even then letterpress was dead on its feet and what I was learning was pretty much irrelevant.

I ran one as part of my apprenticeship in the early 80s as well. I spent more time on the Monotype keyboard and caster though. Something amazing about the platen and the way it worked, being almost wholly automatic.
