lol I didn't even notice that thing about vocals before I read about it in the comments... But what I can definitely say, after listening to this whole album, is that I'm glad there are still bands like these that keep making great music without making their music more "mainstream" or even worse, going to the "dark side" by giving their music a darker sound, adding more black metal elements and reducing the folk elements. I'm getting tired of bands doing that so that's why I will always respect bands like Heidevolk, who stay true to their sound, the most. So, keep up the good work guys because it is definitely appreciated! =]

The change between something like Walhalla Wacht and Vuur van Verzet is a huge change in sound. It started out much darker and more pagan, and now has become exactly the mainstream folk you argue against.

I struggle to remember any other metal band that has lyrics in Dutch. I wish more bands used their native language, it doesn't make a band less appealing. It's just so interesting to listen how the genre works with different languages from around the globe. Probably the coolest example is Alien Weaponry with their songs in Maori language.

This happens ya know... It hurts... Personally im willing to cautiously give the new album a chance. On the other hand, you do get a more diverse sound overall if you consider the whole discography. The same pain i had with linkin park. But, i play more instruments now, i ve heard more music, i really like the newer albums just as much. Just spin the older ones a few times more often and try to keep an open mind about the new.

Mikki Yeong lol, but compared with their previous albums the voices are pushed to the background and thus have to battle with the instruments and are unfortunately drowned out in this mix, a little push of 10% (for example) in voice volume would have been good.
