Use the backing plate for the magnet snap to mark your slits. You can line up your center dot in the middle of the plate, then your leg holes can be easily marked - that way, if your magnet is slightly square, you can make sure it's straight on the project. (I discovered this tip after installing a snap just a bit off-kilter) ;)

This is the second one of your tutorials I've watched. Both tutorials have been great and I have subscribed to your channel. I would love to see a tutorial with D rings for this bag. I have two toddlers so I usually don't have a hand free to clutch a bag! Learning how to sew on my own in the digital age has made me pretty heavily dependent on video tutorials, so I appreciate good quality tutorials like yours!

You gave really excellent tips here. I bought my 2 bags from Swoon -before trying out any of the patterns. I guess I feel guilty for taking the free stuff without buying. But that makes sense: try it to see if you like their patterns. I love the idea of getting those cutting mats and make your own patterns (it's cheaper than trying to buy acrylic templates). Your excitement and instructions make me feel confident that I can do it. And I just have to find some of the interfacing you use because decovil interfacing is quite expensive in Canada. ty for posting.

yay! I made the small one, but I modified it a little, b/c I don't like the flap. so right after I attached the back pocket, I cut everything off 1 and 1/2 inches above the back pocket, and installed the other zipper level, rather than on a curve. It is just what I wanted. So when I make the big one, I will do the same, add a non-zippered pocket to the inside of the main compartment, add the loops for the crossbody, and Voila! We'll have the Swoon Heidi/Jess/Epe double zippered crossbody! I love the way the back pocket gets installed (thanks Swoon). I only made 1 mistake: My two zippers go in opposite directions, rather than in the same direction. Oh well, not to bad for my first purse. 😂😂😂

Hi Jess I love your tutorials and want to make everything you have demonstrated. I saw the mat transfer in this video and loved that idea too. One exception I’m 73 and it’s hard fo me to hold a pen so I found laminating film that comes as large as 11x17 inches. I already have a laminating machine from my days as a home economics teacher sooooo I cut my pattern pieces laminated them and now I can lay weights on them or can goods trace around the edges and don’t have to write much of anything. I’m doing a iPad case by studiocherie now but I have a couple of patterns by swoon I want to try next. 💕💕💕💕

I find the plastic cutting boards at Dollar Tree. Two for $1, and they’re very large, so you can make templates of most patterns for bags without having to piece them. I use them all the time! Also, there is a non-stick presser foot that really helps on vinyl and plastic. Worth the small investment if you’re planning several projects with vinyl.

Tip: when you’re marking for your snaps, use the backing piece instead of the actual snap. It’s flat and you can place the center hole over your dot and mark in the slots for the cut lines. It’s much easier than maneuvering around the snaps.

Using the plastic sheets is brilliant! They work great. I'd love to know the best step for adding the tabsa with D-rings. I'm all about cross-body bags.
