Ok so this is so so good- especially when both Heidi and Taylor went back and forth about Heidi’s concession to the kids’ needs at night time. I had a hard time with my kids mostly at night, especially with the youngest. I ended up letting her share our bed for the sake of sanity and being able to function during the day. I low key resented my husband in that season for always saying “you give in too much, all you have to do is put your foot down” but he wasn’t there to support at 130 or 2am. He was asleep. So, I really think if husbands wanna help establish the boundaries they gotta be willing to team up with the wives and sacrifice some sleep too. It ain’t easy to parent by yourself at 130am when you’re so tired you don’t think straight. Thank you for bringing this up Taylor and Heidi. It’s, as always, super funny, super relatable and at the same time worth reflecting on. Btw my youngest finally slept in her own bed when she turned 9😂
@peacefulhome62 жыл бұрын
you hit the nail on the head! we had the same struggles with all 4 of our kids. he told me exactly how to do everything but wasn't willing to do any of it. being up all night and all day will literally kill you afture a gew days! mama needs sleep, her lofe and those kid's lives depend on it and if dad isn't willing to help then he should just keep his mouth shut and not criticize. mama is in survival mode!
@Phoenixx29x2 жыл бұрын
Yes yes.. so much yes! For me, hubbs has been mostly on night shift since even before our son was born (he's 6 now). So, even though he'd take time to help when he was home, he still needed to sleep during the day which left me grasping for sanity in any way I could find it. A lot of times that meant letting our kiddo sleep in bed with me so I could get some rest too. It was never "when the baby sleeps, I sleep" because I had to keep up with the cleaning and cook and pump and any "down time" I had went into personal hygiene which is also work. It's gotten easier since little man has been in school but I can't imagine having to do that with three kids. Heidi is a superhero... Partially for being a great mom but mostly for letting her husband live through the technical difficulties 😂🤣

Amen! Preach sister! Haha ... I made that point with my husband. After literally one night of telling him to deal with the mid night wakey wakies - we moved all of our beds together in one bedroom. I nurse my daughter to sleep then roll over to the next bed. My two year son is on other side in his toddler bed. It may be strange but pretty sure it provides max sleep.

When I was frustrated with little kids getting in our bed, a coworker reassured me that they will grow out of it. She told me "I've never met a 15 year old who asked to get in bed with their parents, don't worry they'll grow out of it." Now with round two of small kids, my 5 year old gets in the bed, my 6 year old is over it unless he's sick. They will grow out of it. :)

Yes! Yes! Yes!! After a while I made a cozy bed on the floor and if they came in at night they could sleep there. That only lasted a couple months and they stayed in their bed but in the beginning that’s the only way you get the maximum amount of sleep!! I always said the same thing, they’ll be potty trained when they’re ready! They won’t go to kindergarten in a diaper stop worrying!😂😂

My husband & I had 3 kids in 4 years. Our oldest liked sleeping in her own bed but the 2 younger kids not only lined to sleep in our bed but they would both try to lay ON me! After having them I had to get up 2-3 times a night to pee but would be trapped under 2 toddlers. I would need to wake the sleepy guy to get them off of me. As soon as I would start to lay down, they would climb on me. 😖 One day we asked the kids why they have to lay on me. They said, "Mommy is like a soft, comfy pillow" 😣😒 Well my husband laughed for like 20 minutes straight. He loved asking that question randomly & he laughed everytime. 😂😄😊 It's funny now that I'm a gramma though.😴👍✌

There’s days when our priorities are totally opposite and we end up in that frustrated zone right before leaving the house. This is awesome guys! Very relatable, since we are done having kids I have fewer of those unreasonable cleaning during rushed moments while all the kids are choraled in the car. And my husband is awesome and lets me be the slowest person out of the house too! He’s a gem. The years with tiny kids are a great tensile test for the bond between husband and wife. 🤪

I love ❤the open honesty in this video, the struggles with multiple small children and your spouse are real. How you deal with them can be a touchy subject. But it's important be open and honest with each other, and be a team, don't let pride take you down. You guys are the best example of this, way better than any parenting series. Because at this stage of life, there is not much helpful information to guide us through this life stage, just basically survive until the kids are old enough to do things on their own. The gray lines of how to deal with tantrums, kids sleeping in bed with the parents, disobedience, time management, priorities....these are different from family to family, you guys know each other and your kids the best, so you can pick what "works" for your family. ✅Keep up the real content in a funny perspective, it helps others be more open with each other when you can laugh through a challenging situation. ✅

Beyond Absolutely ACCURATE...The BEST video (among your many others)! ..as a homeschool mom of three boys (now young men), I totally get the Mom, Dad, kids thing on Sunday. When we were in the Mennonite culture we use to invite people most Sun. or visit. That added meal prep and making sure house was clean and ready. I learned from other mom's to take Fri./Sat. as cleaning day and meal prep. The kids had their own areas every week.(but of course this meant more training,always)..The meal was often a huge roaster full of meat and vegies. The two of you are amazing parents. You both brighten my day. I struggled with over load and I have to do it all mentality. With no job outside the home I'd save money by making everything from scratch and getting most things at yard sales, even presents. It was more of an adventure. But time consuming and that's what kids want, your time. Most evenings I felt guilty and knew I failed in many ways as I crawled into bed to have my 15 min. of book time. Family life is hard. But I've seen and experienced some of the saddest broken lives in my recent homelessness. I've learned that many victims are the ones that nobody knows what they're doing or cares about them. The ones with "no" family. I've learned that family has the potential to love you better than anyone. And their church families can be rallied on your behalf. Of all your videos, the one's I've watched over and over are the bodyguard ones. LOL Thank You!!

Consider yourself lucky that your son can recognize and verbalize his emotions. It’s a skill that a lot of adults have never obtained. I have a nine year old who can’t do that, but I have a two year old who has been able to do it since she started talking and it makes it easier for her to manage her own feelings. And I agree with Taylor on the kids in the bed thing. I have never let our kids into our bed at night, but I will go with them to their room and snuggle with them in their beds. They fall back asleep, sometimes I do and then I slip back into our bed. My husband appreciates having the sleep he needs to function at work and acknowledges my sacrifices in doing so.
@bbroogs2 жыл бұрын
That last part about the acknowledgement aka validation of that silent, consistent burden is what makes it work. When you're a stay at home parent you know how much that small affirmation and thanks at from another adult means. You don't realize how important that is until you suddenly arent around colleagues all the time and it's suddenly totally gone! Def one of the harder aspects of being at home, the cliche of a thankless job can sadly be very very true. Glad you too get some of that validation!

This was so cathartic and I only have one little quiet weird crazy toddler boy. Another one on the way! Theodore is actually a front runner name. The dumping the puffs on the skip hop, the other little guy just playing with the train staring and then the whole "watch this awesim thing Dad isn't it cool" and the spastic smashing and then **HAM FACE AHHHH REACT DAD**, and ALL of the adult stuff was so spot on except just different roles in our family. I'm the stay at home (dad) while she does the easy career stuff (lol) and the number of times that whole "last minute shower" thing and the number of times I've angrily sassy replied "ok than, when?" "When I was up this morning first thing and took care of the kid and cleaned etcetc". The maniacal Starbucks stop that was in consideration or mentally secretly set in stone way before we ever left the house, classic of my wife too. There were a bunch of other little things and a lot of just your banter in the reaction, just made me smile and feel like our recently chaotic and sometimes seemkngly out of control adventures or even daily humdrum disaster explosions aren't so bad. Loved this.

With Heidi - the struggle is real. The ability of being able to get ready in time as a female with long hair and makeup and outfits and everything it takes to get ready and look and feel put together is a skill that takes work to acquire and maintain lifelong - including and especially the timing of it. Figuring out and building a habit or routine of how and when to do it and in as little of time possible but with plenty of time so you're not late, etc etc. So it's not like it can't be done but it is a struggle to get there and keep it up over time. And it is something guys don't have to deal with. I mean they gotta groom too, but the level is a lot more and different for women - especially if they need / want nicely done long hair, makeup, coordinated outfits, accessories, etc. etc. And add kids - much less THREE little kids into the mix and it can feel like an Amazing Race level challenge. 😳😩

And then when you think you have it down, your body will change/get older on you and will need even MORE time.
